After Islam Makhachev gracefully submitted Renato Moicano on short notice at UFC 311, Dana White admitted that the lightweight champion was indeed the pound-for-pound king. However, the UFC head honcho’s heart seemed to say otherwise. He had always been an avid supporter of Jon Jones as the P4P #1 fighter. Even when the entire world stood against the notion, the UFC CEO kept defending Jones. But now, White has found support from an Army veteran.

In a recent episode of Overdogs Podcast, Mike Perry invited the former mixed martial artist and soldier, Tim Kennedy, to the studio. Therein, the veteran praised the American Special Operations soldiers, where one man was enough to slice through a hundred enemies. But the bare-knuckle fighter had a doubt. Did men in the military ever see the heavyweight champion and think that they could beat him?

And that’s where the shocker came. Kennedy replied, “No. There’s not a person on the planet, I agree with Dana White, in the history of the species. I think Jon Jones, you lock Jon Jones in a room, with Jon Jones and anybody else that’s ever walked on the face of the planet, and Jon Jones is gonna walk out. I think we’re living in a time with the best pugilist in the history of mankind.”

Well, Jon Jones has done more than enough to leave an inspiring legacy in the fighting realm. However, if he needs to put himself on the P4P throne, he has to fight Tom Aspinall and defeat him next. Unfortunately, the talks seem to be at a standstill. And for that, the UFC head honcho was ready to move on from him.

Dana White might ‘move on’ from Jon Jones

Not too long ago, Dana White guaranteed that Jones would fight Aspinall in 2025. But he can’t put the entire division on hold for one man, can he? Talking to The Mac Life, the UFC CEO said, “If we don’t get the fight done, we move on, and we make another fight. But not last night, but the night before, I was up in my room with my people until like 6 in the morning. We’re working on lots of stuff right now. There’s lots of really good sh*t going on right now.”

And as far as the situation around the matchup was concerned, White declared that there was actually no situation. This was indeed the biggest fight the UFC could make. He declared that the heavyweight champion wasn’t afraid of anyone. He was simply teasing the fighting community because the netizens kept pestering him. White concluded, “It’s just a matter of getting the fight done now. That’s our job.”
