Can Armen Petrosyan's dual heritage fuel his rise to the top of the UFC middleweight division?

Armen Petrosyan is slowly making a name for himself in the UFC. ‘Superman’ has competed in the 6 times in the promotion and holds a decent record of 4-2. With six impressive knockouts in his entire MMA career, Petrosyan has established himself as a formidable force in the middleweight division. Set to clash with Sharaputdin Magomedov at UFC 308, this fight promises a thrilling showdown between two rising powerhouses.

Petrosyan, born on November 3, 1990, in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, holds dual Russian and Armenian citizenship, reflecting his Armenian heritage through both his family lineage and citizenship. He first gained recognition on the global stage at the IFMA World Muay Thai Championships, securing gold in 2015 and silver in 2016, followed by another gold at the Russian Muay Thai Cup in 2017.

In 2018, Petrosyan transitioned to a professional MMA career, debuting at WCSA Combat Ring – Steel Heart 9, where he delivered a first-round knockout victory over Makhmadsharif Mirzokhodzhaev. He later appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series 44, where he showcased his striking prowess with another knockout win over Kaloyan Konev on October 19, 2021. With his impressive track record of knockouts, Petrosyan has quickly made a name for himself as a dangerous contender in MMA.

After this ‘Superman’ officially debuted in the UFC and had his debut fight against Gregory Rodrigues in 2022 at UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs. Green. Since then, he has been trying his best to make a name in the promotion and is going to have his 6th fight soon. Thankfully the Russian had also got permission to enter the US for his debut fight.

Armen Petrosyan gets a US Visa!

Petrosyan recently secured his O-1A visa, qualifying for the American fighting platform due to his impressive combat resume outside the UFC. Although his stay in the U.S. is temporary, the visa allows him to compete on American soil. His visa was facilitated by Sherrod Seward, founder of Sherrod Sports Visas, known for helping elite athletes navigate the U.S. visa process.

However, this time, Petrosyan will showcase his Muay Thai skills in Abu Dhabi, where he’s set to demonstrate his striking prowess at UFC 308.

The Muay Thai gold medalist has never mentioned his religion specifically but his Instagram profile answers many of those pressing questions. He always keeps his fans in the loop and uploads various posts about his life and career.

‘Superman’ also posts about his adorable son and in one such post he declared that his son had gained his guardian angel. In the picture, they were standing in front of the Armenian Cathedral of Moscow. In another instance, the combatant posted a picture of him and his friend standing in front of a beautiful ice Holy Cross in extremely cold temperatures, He has never openly talked about his religion but these posts are a clear signal that he is a Christian.
