The pop idol, Ariana Grande, recently crashed through the internet with a new skit with the SNL. It was indeed the viral Celine Dion impersonation that she used as she sang her way through a promotion video for UFC 308. Needless to say, it was a performance that ensured that people from every nook and corner of the world got to know about the MMA promotion. But was it Dana White approved?
The pop star gave a reference to the women in the world of mixed martial arts, saying “with the tightest French braids and the flattest face.” The visuals then shifted to showcase the men with twisted noses and cauliflower ears. The parody even took a playful jibe at Joe Rogan and his fellow commentators. After all, the words “dozens of commentators, all bald and in the shiniest of shirts” do stand true. No wonder,
During the press conference for Dana White’s Contender Series season 8 week 10, a reporter put forth the question and urged the UFC CEO to talk about his thoughts on Grande’s Celine Dion impersonation. As it turns out, White knew nothing about SNL’s plans and was as surprised as the rest of the world.

Replying to the question, White said, “No. My phone started blowing up after it aired.” But boy, was he impressed! It’s not an easy task to impress someone like the UFC boss. But Ariana Grande seemed to have achieved this feat with nothing but a little bit of fun and a boatload of sweet melodies. He continued, “And I thought it was brilliant. I thought she k–led it!”

Grande’s parody video did a pretty good job of promoting UFC 308. However, the UFC boss couldn’t steer away from the worries of issues that might jeopardize the cards. But the main eventers have their boss’ back. With banter on the internet, they can surely amass a huge audience for the event.

While the fighting community was greatly impressed by Grande’s parody skit, White was previously skeptical about a couple of fights. During a previous DWCS press conference, he said, “we were in there making some fights and beefing up some of the cards. That was literally one of the big topics today—how bada** that card is… And hopefully, it stays together.”
The co-main event will be fought between Robert Whittaker and Khamzat Chimaev. In their previous matchup, Chimaev fell violently ill. Hence, he had to forfeit the bout just a couple of days before the scheduled date. This wasn’t the first time Chimaev got his fights canceled due to his health issues. During the days when COVID-19 struck fear in the world, ‘Borz’ had to pull out of 2 of his fights because of the disease. White simply hoped for Chimaev and the others to stay put and help him turn the event into a giant success.

Thankfully, White found support from Ilia Topuria and Max Holloway, as the main eventers kept their online scuffle going. With the featherweights heating up their rivalry before the fated matchup, things are sure to get exciting.
