Leon Edwards, the reigning champion, has recently defeated Colby Covington at UFC 296 and now seemingly has a new nemesis to take down. As soon as ‘Rocky’ took down ‘Chaos’ during his title defense, Belal Muhammad, the backup for the fight decided to issue a warning to him. So will they face off soon?

Muhammad just reminded Edwards that he has a winning streak of his own. The 35-year-old is freshly coming off a win over Gilbert Burns and now that Covington is out of the picture, perhaps he is in a hurry to seize his chance. Here’s what Muhammad had to say.

Edwards’ win only affirmed his reign as champion further. But Belal Muhammad believes that ‘Rocky’ isn’t all the heat that he’s being made out to be. He and his team have since been sending down X posts and other targeted callouts. It’s a picture-perfect opportunity and Muhammad knows it.

Earlier this month, he and his manager Ali Abdelaziz tweeted that Dana White had already given his “word” regarding Muhammad vs. Edwards. It was alleged that White had promised Muhammad his next title shot. Now, his confidence is soaring, and it shows.

“You moron, I’m at the top of the line. There is no line—I am the line. Are you dumb when you say that type of thing? I’m on a 10 fight streak. I have more ranked wins than you,” he said in yet another jab at the champ. Muhammad was raring to go even before his alleged promised fight.

In fact, he weighed in as the replacement in case something were to go a little haywire. For him, the fight was “lackluster”. He felt that Covington couldn’t back up all the talk and Edwards couldn’t deliver the “headshot, dead” passion he did when he became the champion. Nonetheless, he still was happy for ‘Rocky’ because he picked up the win. Keep reading to find out why!

Edwards won via a unanimous decision to retain his welterweight title. The week that led up to it was filled with a lot of rage against Covington for implying that Edwards’ deceased father was in “hell”. Of course, trash talk keeps the business flying but there has to be a line. And since ‘Chaos’ lost it all, it felt like a wave of joy to Muhammad.

He spoke about how Covington’s idol Donald Trump left the arena before he could even finish his speech. Muhammad called Covington a “joke” and wanted ‘Rocky’ to win because there was no way he could handle ‘Chaos’ gloating over a win inside of the ring. And perhaps, many fans share the same sentiment.
