Kron Gracie comes from the closest thing to royalty the sport of MMA has seen. After all, his uncle Royce won UFC 1 and was responsible for popularizing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in America. Not to mention the Gracies were responsible for organizing the inaugural UFC event and getting the ball rolling on the entire sport of MMA.
But after Kron decided to transition to MMA after an illustrious BJJ career, he enlisted the help of the other dynasties in the MMA world. As the Gracie scion gears up to try and make his name in the MMA world, we take a look at his relationship with the Diaz brothers and his training situation.

Kron Gracie started training martial arts training under his father, Rickson Gracie, and by the time he was 25, Kron had already won an ADCC and a European BJJ championship. But in the early 2010s, Kron decided to take the plunge and become a mixed martial artist, which was the biggest, most well-paying combat sport at that time other than boxing.
To help prepare him for this transition, he went to the Diaz brothers- Nick and Nate, who were two of the biggest stars in the sport at that time. The trio were pretty close before this also since the Diaz brothers had trained under Kron’s uncle, Cesar at the Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu gym in Pleasant Hill, California.

During this time, Kron trained under and with both Nick and Nate, which undoubtedly helped the BJJ maestro take to MMA, where he remained unbeaten for the first five years. But this was perhaps the Diaz brothers just returning the favor, which Kron’s uncle had done for them.
Why Cesar Gracie was crucial in the relationship between Kron and the Diaz brothers
Although you couldn’t tell from their UFC stint, and proclivity for striking, Nick and Nate Diaz came into MMA with a BJJ base and world-class grappler. And the man who was responsible for making them a world-class grappler and thus their subsequent MMA success, was their BJJ coach, Cesar Gracie. The latter was not just a coach but also served as a father figure to both Nick and Nate.

He was crucial in their early success in more ways than one. After all, Cesar was their first manager, until the brothers decided they no longer needed his services as their representative in 2013. However, they did keep training under him, indicating just how much regard they have for him.
And the brothers, especially Nick, served a similar mentor-coach role for Cesar’s nephew, Kron, as they trained together at Cesar’s gym together. In fact, Nate still trains with Kron occasionally even as the Brazilian-American has opened his own gym. During this time, Kron has become incredibly close to the Diaz brothers and has forged a bond with them that is still going strong. What do you think about Kron Gracie’s relationship with the Diaz brothers? And can the Gracie scion succeed in his return at UFC 310 against #13 ranked featherweight, Bryce Mitchell?
