Blachowicz x Jones: A titanic clash
Jan Blachowicz is keen to secure a bout with Jon Jones as the two were supposed to face off in the past. However, Jones vacated the belt that Blachowicz eventually picked up and he moved on to heavyweight. ‘Bones’ Jones has still not secured a fight at heavyweight, thus leaving the door open to potentially take on Blachowicz.
“Of course, I can beat him at heavyweight,” Blachowicz said on Mike Swick’s podcast when asked if he’d be open to a heavyweight fight with Jones. “We can do this extra fight — not for the [heavyweight] title if he wants — no problem for me. I am going to be ready.”
“He promised me this fight and I will not stop talking about this, after when I beat Corey [Anderson], he promised me this fight. So, he has to keep his word and let’s go, let’s do this. … Anywhere, any weight. I will catch him somewhere in the future.” [h/t Middleeasy]
Jan Blachowicz’s gusto to chase greatness is nothing short of inspiring for fight fans. He truly believes he has what it takes to be the first man to defeat Jones. It will all boil down to whether ‘Bones’ can secure the heavyweight match-up he’s looking for.
However, as ‘Bones’ is not likely to return to light heavyweight anytime soon, it will be up to Blachowicz to move up.
