Conor McGregor seems to be making the most of his time after his UFC 303 withdrawal! ‘The Notorious’ was aiming to make his return to the Octagon on June 29 against Michael Chandler in a highly anticipated main event but an injury sustained during training camp derailed the plans. According to a statement released by McGregor after the cancellation of the bout, “We had a lapse in concentration and engaged in a training session without wearing the full protective gear and I hit the toe off the elbow and broke the toe clean.”

While he did indicate, “But ya get me, I’ll be back. See ya’s soon”, so far there haven’t been any confirmations about a concrete timeline for his return by the UFC and CEO Dana White. But as the MMA sphere waits for ‘The Notorious’s return yet again, the Irishman has received a nod of approval from a controversial social media figure for his luxurious lifestyle!

In a recent post on X, Conor McGregor shared a picture of himself enjoying life in his $3.6 million Lamborghini yacht with the caption, “Yacht has gym”. The caption is a reference to his back and forth with Michael Chandler earlier this year when ‘Iron Mike’ had posted on X, “I get it. He’s coming off an injury, so that said, now that @TheNotoriousMMA is healthy…the question is, why wouldn’t it be #ufc300 ? It’s been 2.5 years… Get off the yacht kid…”

The Irishman had cheekily responded with the same caption as his recent post, indicating that he doesn’t have to step away from the yacht to get his workouts in. The post also drew a comment from polarizing social media figure, Tristan Tate, who stated, “What is there to dislike about this guy?”

However, an interesting aspect of the picture shared by McGregor is the fact that he is wearing shoes in the photo. This little detail, might not mean much at first glance, however during a recent Bellator MMA event in Dublin, McGregor made an appearance at the event but he was wearing slippers at the time.

During an interview with Severe MMA at the event, the Irishman stated, “I’m still here rocking around in the slippers – they’re not bad slippers now, thankfully. And they’re cosy enough. But I can’t get into a shoe yet.” So, it can be reasonably assumed that the Irish MMA icon’s injury has recovered to the point where he can finally put on some shoes, at least! However, in his absence, Michael Chandler has made a stunning revelation about receiving an offer to fight another name in the UFC.

Chandler claims UFC offered him an alternative to McGregor

Michael Chandler has been away from competition since a submission loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 in 2022. Since then, he has been scheduled to face Conor McGregor but numerous delays and McGregor’s recent injury have kept ‘Iron Mike’ out of the Octagon for a significant period.

But in a recent post on X, Chandler sent waves through the MMA world as he proclaimed, “I’ve been offered @MAKHACHEVMMA in October – but if @TheNotoriousMMA little pinky toe is ready by Sept, let’s do sphere. Biggest sporting event in history of sports!!!!  @RiyadhSeason #ufc306”

However, Islam Makhachev, the current lightweight king, responded by firing back at Chandler by claiming that, “You are unreliable dude,” and that the champion is only looking for a “real opponent”It remains to be seen how this saga unfolds and the developments in the coming months will determine whether fans will witness the long-awaited clash between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.
