Israel Adesanya’s recent victory over Alex Pereira at UFC 287 has been the talk of the town. In a thrilling match, Adesanya knocked out Pereira in the second round to reclaim his title. The victory came after Pereira had defeated Adesanya in their previous bout at UFC 281 via a fifth-round TKO to win the UFC middleweight belt.
The rivalry between Adesanya and Pereira had been brewing for years. It seems like things have finally settled between the two. The two fighters have met twice in kickboxing and twice in MMA. Pereira has come out victorious in three of those fights. Many MMA analysts and fans are talking about a third and final MMA bout between Adesanya and Pereira. Recently, UFC legend Anderson Silva also gave his input about the same.

Anderson Silva about Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira
In a video by YouTube channel ‘K.O. Artist Sports’, Anderson Silva talked briefly about the Israel Adesanya vs Alex Pereira fight at UFC 287. When asked about his opinions on the fight, Silva started by complimenting both fighters. “My real opinion is Alex (is) doing a good job and Adesanya is too,” Silva said.
Then, Silva talked about how he feels Alex Pereira will not get another big opportunity to fight Israel Adesanya. The main reason behind this, according to Silva, can be Pereira’s move to the light heavyweight division. “I think Alex doesn’t have the big opportunity to fight again with Adesanya very soon probably. I think (he) goes to the different weight, 205, and never comes back to fight again,” said Silva.
Silva’s comments are significant because he knows what it takes to be a successful UFC fighter. As a former champion, he has faced many top-level opponents, including Adesanya himself.
Why did Pereira move to light heavyweight?
Fans have had this question in mind ever since UFC 287 ended. Soon after the PPV, Dana White announced Alex Pereira’s move to the light heavyweight division. Many thought that it was because of Pereira’s inability to make weight at 185 pounds.

However, Alex Pereira cleared the air about this in one of his YouTube videos. He said that his move to the light heavyweight division has nothing to do with his weight cuts. According to Pereira, his going up to the 205 lbs division is rather a “natural” move. “I am not going up because I can’t make weight anymore. I will always be able to make weight at 185 lbs,” Pereira said.
