After his phenomenal victory over Jan Blachowicz at UFC 291, Alex Pereira is eyeing one more fight in the light heavyweight category. After Jamahal Hill vacated the belt, talks about Jiri Prochazka lining up against the ‘Poatan’ is gaining traction. Even former champion Prochazka has stated that the Brazilian is the best choice for an opponent.

In an interview with the famed MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani, the Czech mixed martial artist addressed the rumors and confirmed that Pereira might be his opponent in his way towards the light heavyweight title. But that’s not all. Prior to the events of UFC 291, even Blachowicz declared that the title fight would most likely be against the Czech Samurai.

During the conversation on ‘The MMA Hour’, the podcast host stumbled upon the netizens’ talks regarding the fight between Pereira and his guest for the vacant light heavyweight title. When he asked Prochazka about his feelings on the matter, the fighter claimed that the probability of the fight materializing was quite high.

He replied, “Yeah, sure. Not sure, but it’s not confirmed yet from UFC, but that’s the, my next, next fight will be the title. So, I think Alex is the very good chance to, to, to show the world a good title fight.”

Although Prochazka was confident regarding the fight for the title, UFC still has to confirm the matchup. Thereafter, the fighter claimed that a fight against Pereira would indeed be a good one.

In a previous interview with ‘Low Kick MMA’, during a time when Hill was still the UFC light heavyweight champion, Prochazka was asked about Pereira being a possible opponent. However, the Czech fighter was not ready to talk about it. 

Instead of expressing his thoughts on ‘The Poatan’, he declared that he had his eyes fixed upon the championship belt. He said, “I don’t want to speak about the next another fight. My mission is to take the belt that’s all.” As it turns out, Prochazka and Pereira seem to be on a collision course with the title up for grabs.
