Since September 2022, Khamzat Chimaev has been on the sidelines after he decisively put Kevin Holland down in the opening round at UFC 279. The undefeated Swede has been left without an opponent ever since, causing frustration and anticipation within the MMA community. During this time, strong possibilities emerged of ‘Borz’ facing the former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, as both fighters exchanged fiery words, hinting at a potential matchup. But alas, the UFC president Dana White swiftly put an end to that idea, dashing the hopes of fans eagerly anticipating the showdown.

Following the rejection of the Usman fight, a number of names have been associated with the opportunity to step into the cage opposite Chimaev. Yet, despite the rumors and speculations, there has been no official confirmation. Recently, the 29-year-old fighter decided to make his intentions clear and be heard by the UFC president. In doing so, Chimaev is as straightforward as it gets, leaving no room for ambiguity.

Although this adds to the anticipation, it remains just another rumor floating around, yet to materialize beyond mere talks. In the meantime, Chimaev’s future opponent remains uncertain, leaving fans on the edge of their seats, eagerly awaiting confirmation.

This led him to him calling out several fighters and engage in Twitter wars. Additionally, there are reports that Chimaev might move up to the middleweight division owing to his weight issues.
