Jon Jones is coming back at UFC 309 against Stipe Miocic after a long hiatus because of his pectoral injury. Ahead of that, he has been staying in shape and even uploading his whereabouts on social media. Interestingly he has also tried his best to stay out of any controversies ahead of his fight. Recently he uploaded a video on Instagram that invited the usual attention. However, one comment might catch you off-guard because of the controversial tone.
Before getting into the whole comment scenario, let us refresh our minds for a moment and recall that Jon Jones does have a reputation for getting blackout drunk close to fight days. He once admitted that he wanted a built-in excuse to justify a loss to himself, and indulged in drinking for the same. The former light heavyweight champion evaluated this fail-safe after the first fight against Alexander Gustafsson. On top of that, he was also in trouble with DFSI a few months ago, for allegedly threatening two dru** testing officials who came to test his blood when he was partying at his home with some friends.
Now that we are clear with the shenanigans of Jon Jones, let’s get back to the latest video. ‘Bones’ was having a gala time practicing his archery in his latest Instagram post. He captioned it saying, “Awesome time dusting off the @psebows. Big thank you to @hitormissarcherycenter for hosting my friends and me today.” Naturally many fans commented on the post about his upcoming fight and his newfound friendship with Alex Pereira, but one comment was pretty controversial. The fan asked, “Hey Jon Jones have you ever attended a diddy party before?” This question is alarming since the latest news of criminal allegations about famous rapper Sean Combs a.k.a P Diddy is all over the media right now. However, Jones avoided any dispute and crisply gave a stern answer writing, “nope.”

This pretty much clears things up, fortunately. Meanwhile, Jon Jones is busy getting ready for his fight against Stipe Miocic and is training as much as possible. His former rival Anthony Smith pointed out that defeating Jon Jones is not that easy because of this one particular reason.
Anthony Smith talks about Jon Jones’ obsession
While speaking to Michael Bisping on his YouTube channel, Smith pointed out that apart from his brilliance inside the Octagon, another thing made Jon Jones unbeatable. This is also the same reason that makes ‘Lionheart’ see Stipe Miocic not having a chance of beating Jones at UFC 309. “He [Jones] obsesses over his opponents. It’s actually one of the biggest disadvantages in my opinion for Stipe for this fight being stretched out longer. Because it’s given Jon more time to think about it, more time to analyze it, more time to dig into him more, time to continue to watch the film over and over and over. Jon is obsessive… He used to like stalk his opponents’ Facebooks and he would like read through their everyday life. Like he almost wants to know who they are,” Smith said.

What’s your perspective on:
Jon Jones distancing from Diddy's party—Is he just avoiding more trouble or genuinely uninvolved?
Have an interesting take?
Even ‘Bones’ had confirmed this same personality trait in himself and commented on a fan’s question once. “Victory is a result of the obsession”, is what he wrote to the fan comment on X. He also added that he was not ‘talented’ but was obsessed and tried to get inside his opponent’s head. Jones not only watches his opponent’s previous matches but also tries to gauge who they are as a person and what makes them furious.
This might also be the reason that Jones might not fight Tom Aspinall if Miocic withdraws. This is because he will not have had much time to obsessively study Aspinall. So given this situation, who do you think is going to win between Miocic and Jones? Tell us your thoughts below.
