Amid Conor McGregor’s Debut in Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘Roadhouse’, Dustin Poirier Teases His Return to the Big Screen After Starring With Michael Jai White

What is next for Dustin Poirier? After enduring a heartbreaking loss against Justin Gaethje, the fans have speculated where the fighter is headed next. The American fighter has always bounced back. Even after failing to claim the undisputed UFC gold twice, he pushed for a third title shot. However, this time, things are different. Age is finally catching up to ‘The Diamond’, and he is not as sharp as ever. Surely he has to look for a career beyond fighting.

Therefore, after screening through all the alternatives, he has decided to follow the path illustrated by his rival, Conor McGregor. Notably, ‘The Notorious’ was roped in last year to play a lead role in ‘Road House’. The Irishman stars in the reimagining of the 1989 cult classic of the same name. Further, he has also made the UFC a part of the project, as his co-star Jake Gyllenhaal filmed at the recently concluded UFC 285. Now it’s Poirier’s turn to make his presence felt on the big screen, albeit in a red suit.

The 34-year-old recently teased what lies ahead for him as he turned to his Twitter handle. He retweeted a post that declared to have the “inside scoop” on him. The amusing tweet by Nick Bellard reads, “Those of you asking what’s next for @DustinPoirier- I have the inside scoop. He’s going to the big screen.”

Following this, Bellard also disclosed that the 29-8 record holder signed off on a deal to star as Jason, a red Power Ranger, in an upcoming reboot. The similarities are uncanny to McGregor’s recent Hollywood venture.

Thus, the tweet announced, “Signed the contract to star as Jason, the red Power Ranger, in the upcoming adult-oriented reboot. The film will act as a sequel to the 90s TV show.”

This won’t be the lightweight fighter’s first stint on the silver screen. He previously featured in a blink-and-miss cameo in Michael Jai White‘s Never Back Down 2. But as expected, these speculations are nothing but a joke about the odd spot Poirier himself currently finds himself in. While the fans wait for an update on his career, Poirier is ready to cave into popular demand.

The #3-ranked lightweight recently teased his move up to the welterweight division after his most recent loss at UFC 291. Fans and pundits alike had previously suggested Poirier shift to the 170-pound division.

At last, he is ready to experiment, as he declared on Twitter (X). He wrote, “Ok I’ll move up”. His announcement caught the attention of welterweight stars and, particularly, Shavkat Rakhmonov.
