Veteran UFC commentator Jon Anik was in between long flights when he received a rather warm message from Conor McGregor. Anik has been a constant presence on the UFC commentary desk for years and is a fan favorite, along with the likes of Joe Rogan. In fact, Rogan once labeled Anik the best UFC commentator in the history of the sport. In contrast, he had a back-and-forth with Rogan for his comments about his fight.

Anik’s commentary along with Rogan has been a part of many iconic moments in the UFC. Now, the 44-year-old has a chance to lend his voice to UFC history once more at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia.

Anik posted an update about his long trip to Perth on Twitter. His tweet fetched a hearty response from the former UFC two-weight division champion, McGregor.

Conor McGregor had a pleasant reminder for Jon Anik

Anik posted about his long journey to Australia on Twitter. He wrote he had taken two flights with one more left to go. The veteran commentator added he would not recommend 18 hours on a plane.

Anik also mentioned that he would reach his destination in another few hours. As tiring as the update sounded, ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor reminded Anik that there was something to look forward to. The Irishman wrote, It is summer in Oz Jon boy! Enjoy!”

In response to McGregor’s well-intended wish, Anik wrote back, “My brother. See you soon…”

This is not the first time that McGregor had good things to say to Jon Anik. ‘Mystic Mac’ is a fan of Anik’s commentary and has made it clear before, and Anik has expressed his gratitude for McGregor’s support.

When McGregor praised Anik’s commentary

Prior to his return at UFC 257, Conor McGregor had nothing but good words to say about Jon Anik’s commentary. The former dual champion particularly liked Anik’s commentary for the bout between Dustin Poirier and Dan Hooker in 2020. He gave special mention to Anik’s “one of the best rounds of the year unless you like defense” line while discussing the fight.

In 2021, he acknowledged Anik’s prowess via another tweet, calling him “The best on the desk.”
