After expressing his reservations about Donald Trump for a long time, Joe Rogan finally decided to change his tune on the US president-elect and endorsed the Republican representative. Moreover, Trump’s JRE appearance skyrocketed its appeal and placed it in the top three most-watched episodes in the podcast’s history. So, there seems to be a question in some people’s minds about whether Democrats need a platform similar to the 57-year-old’s to balance out the support. Well, late-night talk show host Jon Stewart believes that’s a pretty laughable thing to discuss while helping fans understand the kind of role Rogan plays in media.

Jon Stewart believes that there’s no certain political alignment when it comes to Joe Rogan. While claiming to be a view of the longtime UFC commentator’s podcast, ‘The Daily Show’ host believes that there are certain things that he seems to agree with and certain other things that he doesn’t feel match his opinion. The fact that Rogan gets into authentic conversations whenever he has a guest on his show, Stewart claims that’s the biggest selling point about the 57-year-old’s platform.

“I think that’s oversimplifying Joe Rogan. I mean, as somebody who does listen to Joe Rogan, like, I don’t know what I would necessarily classify him as,” Jon Stewart was seen stating a clip from his ‘The Weekly Show’ podcast posted on Reddit. “He has some ideas that I think are wildly progressive, other ideas that are probably, I would less agree with. What’s interesting about Joe is [he] talks to anybody, does it with a kind of genuine curiosity.”

Jon Stewart defends Joe Rogan’s podcast

Jon Stewart credited the ‘capitalist system’ for helping Joe Rogan get the reach that he has right now. He even lauded Bernie Sanders for deciding to go and have a chat with the JRE host on his podcast, which garnered a fair amount of views on various online platforms. Meanwhile, the late-night host believes that the ones who’re trying to tackle Rogan’s show aren’t sure about the endgame even if they do find their platform, and this, according to Stewart, is a “mistake” because the UFC color commentator has grown to become a much more revered individual than just a partisan media figure.

“He has a voice [and] we have a system that is capitalistic, that voices that resonate tend to be amplified. Bernie [Sanders] went on Joe Rogan, which I think was exactly the right thing to do, but it’s all these people who never really listen to him going, ‘How do we get one of those?’ I’m not even sure you know what that is,” Jon Stewart added.

“Also, I think that question is always framed in the negative. Like, ‘That’s a sh-t thing, and we need to counter it with a good thing of equivalent value’. I think that’s a mistake as well. I wouldn’t even know how to classify the things that he does and says.”, The Daily Show host further added.

Joe Rogan’s views have changed over time after various conversations and various important events, and that’s what fans seem to like about the podcast. Regardless, what do you think about Jon Stewart’s description of Joe Rogan and his role as a media figure? Tell us in the comment section below!
