The UFC has updated their fighter’s pound-for-pound rankings list. It seems like there are some noteworthy changes in the women’s rankings. While flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko holds first place, Amanda Nunes has stepped up to the second rank. Simultaneously, strawweight champion Rose Namajunas descended to hold the third position.
Further, Julianna Peña is in the fourth position. However, earlier Nunes was on number 3 and UFC President Dana White was not happy about it. In a recent conversation with BT Sport, White commented on ‘The Lioness’ dropping down to number three. According to him, the rankings sometimes don’t make sense.
White said, “I don’t know how Amanda drops to number 3. That’s pretty silly. She beat Valentina twice, and she drops to number 3. These rankings don’t make sense sometimes.”

It looks like the UFC has taken White’s perspective into account and placed the Brazilian fighter at number 2. And so, Namajunas dropped down to the third rank.

Now that Shevchenko and Nunes occupy the first and second positions of women’s P4P rankings, many fans might be excited to see a trilogy fight. Nunes has defeated ‘Bullet‘ twice previously.
Unfortunately, Dana White is not excited about this fight. Instead, he is more interested in a second bout between Peña and Nunes. After all, their UFC 269 fight left everyone shocked and wanting more.
What’s next for Amanda Nunes?
Currently, a rematch against Peña is what makes sense. Nunes trying to recapture the bantamweight title would be a huge deal. Further, many also want to see her face Kayla Harrison inside the octagon.

Dana White on Kayla Harrison: "If I was her, I'd stay right where she is and keep picking off the people over there… I would stay there and keep fighting the type of women she's fighting there before i would come here and fight an Amanda Nunes. That's for damn sure." pic.twitter.com/seT08YhZa5

Nunes recently left the American Top Team to set up her own gym in Florida. Therefore, it looks like she is making a lot of changes before she returns to the ring again. So one can speculate that she will return as the best version of herself.
