Amanda first stepped in the ring for her professional debut on March 8, 2008, at Prime MMA Championship 2. She lost her very first match to Ana Maria by an armbar. However, ‘The lioness’ recovered from the loss by going on a five-win streak, all by a knockout leading to her Strikeforce debut. The debut was a victory by a quick 14-second knockout over Julia Budd. Before making her UFC debut, she lost three matches out of 10.

Nunes made her UFC debut against Sheila Gaff at UFC 163 on August 3, 2013, in Brazil. This debut also quickly ended in Nunes’ favor by a TKO in the first round. Going on, she earned a three-fight win streak that led Nunes to her first title shot in the UFC. She faced Miesha Tate for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship on July 9, 2016, at UFC 200.

The match ended with everyone in shock after Tate’s defeat by rear-naked choke in the very first round. She further made headlines after defeating Ronda Rousey in under 48 seconds by a barge of punches. She is currently on a staggering 12 win streak and showing no signs of stopping.
