Amanda Nunes Discloses the Reason Behind Leaving ATT and Establishing Her Own Training Facility

Amanda Nunes is the most successful women’s fighter in the MMA and most of her success came after she moved to the American Top Team. However, following her loss to Julianna Peña, the reports suggested The Lioness have parted ways with her old gym.

Now, during the announcement of TUF 30, which will air on ESPN+ on May 3, Nunes revealed the reason she left the gym.

Nunes said, “You know like I say, like, after all this done. I wanna be a coach. So, when I say I wanna open a gym, I didn’t say, I’m gonna open a public gym. I wanna open a private space, you know, if I have to start over, I wanna do something the way I wanna do so it’s gonna be something I wanna do and my private coach that I wanna really be better for our next, rematch.”

The Lioness will start her own gym with her wife Nina Nunes in Florida. Earlier at UFC 269, Peña shocked the world when she submitted the Lioness and handed her the first loss since 2014. Nunes will look to avenge her loss and regain the double champ status in the rematch.

The Lioness and The Venezuelan Vixen will be the coaches for the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter. During the show, the two will coach their respective teams. Later they will compete against each other for the women’s bantamweight championship.

The 30th season of TUF will feature two divisions: men’s heavyweights and women’s flyweights divisions, with 16 contestants. So, both the coaches will have half of the contestants from each division in their respective two squads.

All the contestants will compete against each other to win a UFC contract in their respective divisions. The show comprises twelve episodes.

Nunes will appear on the show for the first time, whereas Pena has appeared and won the 18th season of TUF. With that experience, Peña will look to guide her team to their goal: a UFC contract.
