Amanda Nunes’ wife Nina Nunes is also a former UFC Fighter who used to compete in the Flyweight division. The couple tied the knot in the year 2019. The UFC audiences have also witnessed multiple instances of their lovely relationship. Apart from her fights, Nina has also taken the octagon several times to celebrate her partner’s victory. Being the first g*y married couple of the UFC would expectedly provoke a lot of fans to know more about their lives.
The couple has been quite open in this regard. Both Amanda and Nina’s social media display them together in a number of snaps. Nina is a US native who was born and brought up in Weston, Florida. As far as reports suggest, she also carries Macedonian ancestry. ‘The Strina’ also boasted an overall record of 11-7 prior to her UFC retirement on 13 August 2022.

Nina started training in MMA in 2009 after suffering a motorcycle accident in her adolescent years. She also made her professional debut in an MMA promotion named, ‘Crowbar MMA’. However, with time, she improved and went on to fight for bigger promotions like the PFL and Invicta FC. She was signed by the UFC in the year 2014. ‘The Strina’ appeared in nine UFC bouts till her retirement and held a record of 5-4.
How did Amanda Nunes meet Nina Nunes?
The connection between Amanda and Nina dates back to their early days in the noted martial arts training institute, ‘American Top Team’. It is pertinent to note that ATT has also supplied the UFC with some other elite mixed martial artists in the form of Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier and Jorge ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal. Amanda and Nina started off as sparring partners who were quick to transition their bond into a strong friendship.
In the budding stages of her relationship with Amanda, Nina was once interviewed by ‘Bleacher Report’. She stated, “We enjoy being around each other and we are also best friends. We go fishing together and we go training together and sometimes we go a little heavier in the sparring session and then we just smile after.”
Nina also said, “It’s kinda like you know what’s up, I know what’s up. We get it out in our training and then it’s never left the cage and it’s never left the gym. That’s it. It’s amazing.” Both Amanda and Nina were signed by the UFC around the same time as well, i.e. 2014.
Do Amanda Nunes and Nina Nunes have kids?
The couple welcomed their first child in September 2020. Nina Nunes gave birth to a baby girl through in vitro fertilization, using a sperm donor. The couple named their daughter Raegan Ann Nunes. She also adorns the Instagram profiles of both her parents.

In April 2022, one of Nina’s Instagram posts revealed that the couple was expecting their second child soon. However, it was apparent that the couple was quite restless about the birth of their second child. She also revealed that they would name their second child, “Hazel Ann Nunes”.

‘The Lioness’ is all set to take on the Mexican, Irene Aldana, for her next Bantamweight title defense at the main event of UFC 289. The event is scheduled for 10 June and will be hosted at the Rogers Arena, in Vancouver, Canada. Previously, Nunes was scheduled to take on her former rival Julianna Pena, for a trilogy bout. But recently, the UFC supremo, Dana White, revealed that Pena had stepped out of the bout following an injury leaving her with broken ribs.

Quite apparently, both women will be stepping inside the octagon with supreme confidence. Nunes recaptured her lost UFC Bantamweight championship in her last bout at UFC 277. While Aldana finished off her UFC 279 rival, Macy Chiasson with a brutal up-kick to the liver in her previous fight.
