Zuckerberg’s presence was initially revealed by the UFC Fight Night 211 main eventer, Mackenzie Dern, who went on to say that Zuckerberg had rented the whole event.
UFC president Dana White debunked Dern’s claims, although Zuckerberg was actually seen at the event. Now, with the UFC announcing its partnership with ‘Meta’, the motive behind Zuckerberg’s Fight Night 211 attendance is clear.
The first event of this new partnership has been decided
The first event in this new relationship is scheduled to be ‘LFA 144’, which airs on ‘Fight Pass’ on October 14th, 2022. The event will be produced in ‘VR180’, providing users with a 180-degree panorama of the action.
‘Fight Pass’ vice president and general manager, Cowley Sullivan described how they were excited to offer this all-new presentation of producing a live MMA event in virtual reality. Sullivan said, “With Meta providing the VR platform and YBVR lending their production expertise, we’re confident this will be a great experience for fight fans.”
What did the fans say about this venture?
The Instagram post from ‘MMAFighting’ received a huge number of reactions from MMA fans. But, it can not necessarily be said that the comments section was very appreciative of this announcement.
A follower wrote, “See there is always some little scheme behind it, I knew he wasn’t just there to enjoy the fights.” He had apparently predicted the ‘all-business’ mentality of Zuckerberg.
Another fan commented, “damn this will make the ufc more money and won’t give it to the fighters lmao”. His sarcasm was evident from his words.
