Cormier spoke about how when he was in Miami last weekend for UFC 287, no one was openly talking about the fight getting canceled. “I guess it’s not happening and being in Miami last week, just talking to people, you could feel that something was up with the fight. Mark Raimondy reported today that Jon Jones and Stipe are not fighting international fight week. It’s still the fight that both want, it’s still the fight that is allegedly going to happen, we just now don’t know a date as to which that fight is going to take place”.

According to Cormier, there are rumors that Miocic may have priced himself out of the bout, with financial concerns being the primary issue. Cormier also speculated that Miocic‘s age, who is about turn 41, could be a factor in his decision-making process.

“I heard that it’s always been an issue on the Miocic side in terms of the financial side of the equation in order to what he’s going to get paid to go into the fight with Jones. Stipe is about to be 41 years old. So this may be, if he can’t get the job done, his final payday of that sort”.
