Many consider Israel Adesanya a strange individual. Sometimes, he has good reason to be that way. A bizarre post-fight exchange between Adesanya and Sean Strickland surfaced which left some fans gasping for air while others stuck to trolling ‘The Last Stylebender.’

In the video, the fighters can be seen taking things easy after the bout last weekend but suddenly, ‘Izzy’ brings up his dog. Strickland can be a foul-mouthed promotion artist when he wants to be but did he remember talking smack about ‘Izzy’s dog? If not, the former champion made sure he’d remember after the fight.

Fans laugh but was Israel Adesanya trolling post-fight?

In an unexpected turn of events, Sean Strickland beat Adesanya to claim the middleweight belt at UFC 293 on September 9. Though the former champion gracefully lifted Strickland’s hand, he still had some bitter things to say. In a close-up video of the two inside the Octagon, the camera caught an awkward exchange.

“You’re a fu*king legend,” Strickland says to which Adesanya responds oddly. He says, “but please, don’t ever joke about my family bro.” A befuddled Strickland laughs it off hoping it was the end of the conversation but it was far from it.

“Just look at me,” Adesanya continues. “I know you think I fu*ked my dog . . . And that’s no bullsh*t so please. I would never bring your family into this. Don’t bring my family into this please.”

Wild right? The fans had a similar opinion. UFC’s Reddit post was lined with comments, some pulled no punches, some trolled, mostly everyone just laughed. Here’s what the fans wrote:

  • ““I know you think that I fu*ked my dog” is one of the funniest things ever said”
  • “He was probably thinking about that all fight.”
  • “Dude is really bothered by it. I’m starting to think he actually did fu*k that dog.”
  • “I would feel so awkward if someone said that to me”

Some others applied more logic to the directions their thoughts went into. These comments were critical of Izzy.

  • “And yet he would have done a tiktok dance on sean’s grave if he won…”
  • “That’s why I’m loving this Izzy hate train, he looks like he can dish it but he can’t take it. You hardly see fighters being unsporstmanlike to each other and to me the sportsmanship is one of the coolest things about the sport. . .”
  • “Also mocked Alex’a son lmao “Would never bring family into it.””

Adesanya was upset about Strickland’s dog comments

Before the fight went down, Sean Strickland got to his usual platform, making fun and pulling legs. In an old video, Adesanya can be seen playfully engaging with his pet dog who has now passed away. Some have alleged that the former champion can be seen touching the dog in an inappropriate manner. This led to ‘Tarzan’ tweeting “maybe someone call PETA.”

No one knew this simple hook would turn up at such a crucial moment. But it makes sense when you think that the dog meant a lot to Adesanya since he also has its likeness tattooed on his neck. Either way, for now, ‘Izzy’ couldn’t put the bite to his bark and has lost his title. Once the dog comments die out and the title is up for grabs again, will he come back for Strickland’s neck?
