The main event of UFC 299 ended up becoming one of the most gruesome beatdowns in a UFC title fight. It’s no secret that Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera share no love for each other. The beef started from their first fight in the portion back in UFC 252, where “Chito” finished O’Malley in the first round. But O’Malley finally got to avenge the only loss in his professional MMA career. Marlon Vera after the fight is reported to have gone up to Tim Welch and told him that he and O’Malley would never be friends.
O’Malley, during the interview on Bisping’s podcast, made it clear that he was somewhat ready to bury the hatchet. He stated, “I feel like in my position the one that you know the alpha, the king, it’s easier for me to say yeah you know what I don’t mind the dude but for him I don’t know. He said it’s not persona, he says I’m just another guy but all I mean he’s probably has nightmares of me at night or wakes up in sweat thinking about me punching him so I don’t know that that’s on him.”
O’Malley seems to be sort of handing out the olive branch to Marlon Vera. However, after a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, it might seem that “Chito” is still not ready to bury the hatchet with Sean O’Malley.

In the interview, Vera accused O’Malley of greasing up his hair which made it hard for “Chito” to grapple with the UFC champ. He stated, “Every time I was grabbing Sean, it was like grabbing a fish out of the water. Maybe he didn’t attempt to cheat, but he was extremely greasy on his hair.”
