Leon Edwards has decided to go on a winning spree and impress the fight fans with his performance and physique. Needless to say, ‘Rocky’ is backed by his teammates. Be it training, fighting, or awkward run-ins, one face is constant beside the welterweight champ.

And he is none other than Fabian ‘The Assassin’ Edwards, the brother of UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. The Jamaican British MMA star fights in the middleweight division of Bellator and is ranked No. 1 in his division. His ascent in Bellator is just as spectacular as Leon’s. Here’s a little more information about Fabian Edwards.

Fabian Edwards was born on March 24, 1993, in Kingston, Jamaica. The Edwards family, however, moved to Birmingham, England, when they were young, in search of a better life. As Leon Edwards was already making his name in the MMA world, Fabian Edwards took no time to follow in his brother’s footsteps.

Fabian Edwards had a perfect record in his amateur career, with 10 fights and 10 wins. He made his professional debut in 2017, where he won his first match with a flying knee, which led to the start of an impressive 9-fight win streak. However, the streak would end against Costello van Steenis via a split decision in a competitive back-and-forth fight. This would be followed by another loss against Austin Vanderford.

‘The Assassin’ would bounce back after a year layoff with an impressive win against former UFC champ Lyoto Machida with a devastating left hook. He would go on to win his next two fights, securing a fight for the Bellator welterweight strap against Johnny Eblen at Bellator 299. He would come up short, as Eblen would finish Edwards in the third round via TKO. However, that wouldn’t be the end, as things would heat up between Johnny Eblen and Leon Edwards after the fight.

Despite the loss, Fabian does not seem discouraged. He claims that he will come back stronger and is aiming for a rematch against Johnny Eblen, the only man who finished him inside the cage, at Bellator Champions Series. With a professional record of 13-3-0, ‘The Assassin’ is on a 1-fight win streak. But right now, the Bellator middleweight is fully focused on Leon Edwards’ fight against Belal Muhammad at UFC 304. He has dived into his brother’s fights deep enough that netizens have begun seeing him in altercations.

Was Fabian Edwards involved in an altercation with Belal Muhammad?

Days before their face-off at UFC 304, Muhammad and Edwards ran into each other in an elevator. What are the odds of that happening, right? Despite the heat emanating from the welterweight fighters, both of them controlled themselves and prevented the run-in from escalating into a physical altercation.

And to answer the question, Fabian Edwards was right there in the elevator with the welterweight champ. Talking to the media, Muhammad said, “His brother [Fabian Edwards] was trying to give me a dirty look, but he didn’t know I was sizing him up for after the cage, if he ends up hopping in the cage wanting to do something.”

It was indeed an awkward incident for the two. But that didn’t stop them from hurling insults at each other. But right after the fighters walked out of the elevator, the war of words began. In the heat of the moment, Muhammad even claimed that he would take on Fabian Edwards.

Will Muhammad ever face the Bellator middleweight fighter? Well, that’s something that only time can tell. But one thing is certain. Both Edwards and Muhammad are looking forward to their fight at UFC 304.
