Are Aljamain Sterling's drug accusations a desperate move, or is there some truth to his claims?

Aljamain Sterling is returning for his second featherweight bout under the UFC banner, but things seem to have taken a turn for the worse between him and his opponent, Movsar Evloev. ‘Funk Master’ accused the Russian featherweight ace of allegedly using banned substances. As we’d expect, Evloev was triggered by those claims and has apparently sent a warning to the former bantamweight champion.

Movsar Evloev is “on something.” That is what Aljamain Sterling claimed a few days ago while discussing his upcoming fight against the undefeated star. Understandably, Evloev would respond to those accusations. He seemed to be in a fit of rage because he guaranteed and doubled down on the fact that there would be some serious repercussions for Sterling.

“Where I’m from, making false accusations like that won’t go well for you,” tweeted Movsar Evloev. He’d even urge him to avoid withdrawing from the contest. But I’ll be a businessman—I’ll punish you and get paid for it. Just don’t pull out.” Furthermore, to double down on it, the Russian star would even share some evidence of no wrongdoing.

In another tweet, Movsar Evloev shared a picture in which he seemed to be submitting samples to the doping agency. He’d then take a shot at Aljamain Sterling, and tweet, “Your friends stopped by after you started complaining, but it won’t help you! What’s your next excuse? [Sterling].” However, the former bantamweight champion didn’t seem to be bothered by Evloev’s earlier warning.

Aljamain Sterling remains unfazed despite Movsar Evloev’s warning

The former bantamweight champion had a comprehensive win over Calvin Kattar on his 145-pound debut. Understandably, he’d be very confident of his chances against Movsar Evloev at UFC 307. But it seems to be more about proving his claims right against the Russian national as Sterling took another shot as a response to the 18-0 star’s sample-submitting post, promising a beatdown.

What’s your perspective on:

Are Aljamain Sterling's drug accusations a desperate move, or is there some truth to his claims?

Have an interesting take?

“You’ve gotten away this long, try not to get caught for 6 more weeks, so I can give you a natural a** whooping,” Aljamain Sterling tweeted back at Movsar Evloev. If we take a look at the undefeated star’s record, he has never been caught for illegal substances or failed any drug tests, which is the same for ‘Funk Master’. So, we don’t really don’t have much on what has led Sterling to claim that Evloev has “100% taken gear.”

The closest that he perhaps got to a fighter who had used performance enhancers was when he faced TJ Dillashaw. Dillashaw had returned after spending a few years on suspension for his use of EPO. He faced Sterling at UFC 280 after beating Cory Sandhagen in his return bout.

Although it’s good to have a buildup to a fight with great intensity and heat, it’s never a pleasant thing to see the usage of banned substances getting mentioned. Regardless, do you think Aljamain Sterling is telling the truth? Let us know your comments down below.
