Is Aljamain Sterling's credibility shot after his failed PED allegations against an undefeated fighter?

Aljamain Sterling’s rift with Movsar Evloev seems to be far from over because now there is a serious allegation that Sterling levied against his opponent before UFC 307. Sterling just accused the undefeated fighter of consuming performance-enhancing dr*gs before their fight. The former Bantamweight champion is eager to defeat the Russian and move to UFC gold.

Meanwhile, Evloev wants to reschedule a fight with Ilia Topuria to take the latter’s crown. Meanwhile, the fighter with an undefeated streak of 18-0 spoke about the PED accusation and came clean about what he thought regarding the same.

During his interview with Mike Heck, Evloev was asked about these indictments by his opponent. Surprisingly, he was pretty calm when he was speaking about it and came clean on what his thoughts were. He spoke about Sterling and said, “He had no choice but to take this fight. That is why he is fighting me. Yeah, he does something like you know without improvements, he talks, I don’t know what’s the point of this but I don’t care. We have a doping control here. I’m always clean you know I’m happy being at UFC because I know there is doping control, I can be like confident. You know, that my opponent also does a doping test so it’s like if you talk without proof you know.”

The featherweight fighter also challenged the former bantamweight champion and said that he would beat him up. To give you a recap, in a recent interview with Home of Fight, Sterling said that Evloev used performance-enhancing dr*gs. Even though ‘Funk Master’ admitted that he had no evidence, he still accused his opponent of something illegal.

According to Home of Fight on X, he said, From what I’ve heard through the grapevine, he’s not a clean athlete…people can say whatever, you have no proof, I’m like dude same thing people were saying about TJ Dillashaw from years ago and teaching people how to do it, Cody Garbrandt calling him out at the press conference and everyone sweeping it under the rug… “Those conversations are not very different from what I’ve had about Movsar, and I think where there’s smoke, there’s fire.

Sterling (244) had advanced to the featherweight division after losing his title to Sean O’Malley in a bantamweight fight. Meanwhile, Evloev is unbeaten and defeated Arnold Allen in his last fight. Now, get this, the duo has been going back and forth on X and trash-talking for a long time ahead of UFC 307. This is not the first time that Evloev has retaliated against the PED accuse. He has replied to Sterling’s X posts and said that his opponent was talking without evidence as a “coping mechanism”. Let’s dive deeper into how it all started and let’s see who started the fight first.

The ordeal began when Sterling accused the Russian fighter of using performance-enhancing drugs, posting, Nothing worse than cheaters in this sport! I’ve fought cheaters before and won because I believe in my skill set. However, the latter was not silent and retaliated through his social media post and their verbal fight just escalated more from here.

Evloev did not sugarcoat his words and in a true Russian style, gave a scathing remark back to his opponent. He said, Where I’m from, making false accusations like that won’t go well for you. But I’ll be a businessman—I’ll punish you and get paid for it. Just don’t pull out.
