Islam Makhachev successfully defended his lightweight title against Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284. The fight was a close one, with each fighter complementing the other with grappling and striking skills. However, Makhachev was accused of cheating with the use of intravenous (IV). But His manager, Ali Abdelaziz, confirmed that he wasn’t using any substances. But he also deleted a tweet recently where he mentioned that UFC fighters do use IV during their matches.

On the other hand, fellow lightweight fighter Dan Hooker claims that the Dagestan native used IV during his fight against Volkanovski. Fighters use intravenous fluids to rehydrate and even make weight. Ali Abdelaziz rubbished those claims. However, some Twitter users captured a screenshot of Abdelaziz’s deleted tweet where he claimed that many UFC fighters use medical professional-administered IV during their bouts.
Many fighters under the UFC banner use IV, according to the deleted tweet by Makhachev’s manager. Ali Abdelaziz wrote: “For all those idiots out there, any fighter under the UFC banner can take 2-3 liters of IV as long as it’s done by a nurse or a professional, next week I’m gonna expose everybody. Islam Makhachev is pound-for-pound king.”

- He meant expose everybody on this sub for their slurping behaviour. Dude basically threw his fighter under the bus and half the ppl here are breaking their ankles pivoting from “Volk is a sore loser” to “well he didn’t do anything wrong if it wasn’t against the rules”.
- I think it means that all of his fighters do it
- I would imagine it means all camps are aware of this limited IV use and utilize it, but just don’t talk about it. But now that Hooker decided to b*tch about it, Ali is going to expose everyone who has ever exploited this stipulation.
- YOOOOO Ali just f***ed up
- Ali has the brain of a squirrel
- Oh so he DID take an IV
- My guess is that he said this because the evidence was mounting and he wanted to get ahead of it
Many fans understood that Abdelaziz messed up big time. They believe that there may be many fighters under his management who use intravenous fluids. Some UFC fans also mentioned that most people are only calling Volkanovski a loser, but not taking the accusation of Makhachev seriously. One fan also commented that Abdelaziz came out with the truth of IV use because there was a lot of evidence mounting up against the current UFC lightweight champion.
