The UFC 284 featuring two renowned world champions, Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski is just around the corner. Many fans expect it to be a riveting match between two professionals in the game. Recently, the former lightweight champion and Makhachev’s coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov, announced his retirement from all forms of MMA, including coaching. Therefore, Makhachev will have to face his worst enemy without his best friend and guru by his side. Fans already assume this was a setback for Makhachev. However, Volkanovski believes that shouldn’t change the equation much.

The Australian native conveyed a sound message to his upcoming opponent in a recent interview with Fox Sports Australia. The current P4P king felt that Khabib Nurmagomedov has nothing to do with Makhachev‘s win once the Dagestani enters the Octagon. Therefore, his absence should not be mentioned as a handicap to the lightweight champion. Furthermore, Volkanovski expressed Makhachev was not a “real fighter” if he needed someone to look out for him inside the Octagon.
