Alexander Volkanovski is back and he has made sure the whole world knows it. At UFC 314, ‘The Great’ delivered a statement win over the dangerous Diego Lopes, proving that he’s far from done and still one of the best to ever do it. After going through a tough stretch in his career, Volkanovski faced plenty of questions coming into this fight. But he answered every single one with heart, experience, and that signature Aussie toughness. Obviously, his win didn’t come without any injuries.

UFC 314 gave fans exactly what they came for: a five-round war between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes that more than lived up to the hype. From start to finish, it was a high-level fistfight where both men dug deep and left it all in the cage. Volkanovski came out looking sharp, showing the poise and precision that’s made him one of the best in the game. His jab was crisp, his movement calculated vintage ‘Volk.’ But the Brazilian didn’t come just to compete. He also went toe-to-toe with one of the greatest in the game.

Midway through the fight, the momentum shifted in a flash. Lopes landed a slick one-two that sat Volkanovski down—a clean, picture-perfect combo that lit up the crowd. Moments later, a glancing shot caught the Aussie in the left eye, and things got dicey. The Aussie explained to Main Event, “I completely lost vision in my left eye. It was a good shot. I couldn’t see and I was just trying to get it back, but it was completely gone. It slowly came back a little bit. For the rest of the fight I could, at least, see a bit of a blur, which helped.”

Joe Lopes, in an interview with Submission Radio, said, “He might have broke his hand; we have still got to get that X-ray, so he did hurt his hand. Yeah, it was earlier in the fight, I think. Alex didn’t say anything towards it; it was in the ending, saying, ‘Look, I think I busted my hand.’ I can’t remember which round. He’s got a bit of a sore foot, just bumps and bruises after having a war. 05 round war with a warrior.”
