In a recent conversation with Ariel Helwani, Volkanovski shared his thoughts about Giga’s approach before taking on Calvin Kattar.
He said, “I mean, look, there’s going to be people that are going to trash talk and all that. That’s part of the game we understand, that but there’s other sides to it and then there is real disrespect not only to me but to Calvin Kattar as well. You have got a man a top contender in front of you and you acting like you’re going to walk through this guy. Not only, let’s win first before you start carrying it on.”
“Ah, what do you know? You’re probably going to get injured. It’s not that the fight is not too far away and all. There’s so many things that come into play. Then you know he’s just in there, obviously the champion or whatever. I don’t really care about that. But trying to say you are taking an easy way and then disrespecting the Zombie-like you did, just disrespecting everybody.”
Giga Chikadze needs to climb his way back to face Alexander Volkanovski
Losing a key fight against Kattar has blurred his chances of facing the champ in 2022. This loss has officially pushed him out of contention. The defeat has kept Giga Chikadze at #8 and has helped Calvin Kattar maintain his place in the top 5.
