Erin Blanchfield is efficiently making a name for herself in the UFC. In her last bout, she astounded fans by submitting former UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade. Now, the 24-year-old is set to face another formidable opponent, Taila Santos, in the upcoming UFC Fight Night 225. The fight between the two is scheduled to take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium this Saturday. According to Blanchfield, this is yet another big fight in her MMA career. Like every other UFC fighter, even her aim is on the belt. To reach the title, ‘Cold Blooded’ is doing her best to emerge victorious after every single bout.
The UFC flyweight star has won all five bouts she has fought in the world’s biggest MMA promotion. And it is noteworthy that Blanchfield won her last three UFC fights via submission. Now she is ranked No. 3 in the women’s flyweight division and will now square off against the fourth-ranked Santos. Erin Blanchfield was talking on the UFC Singapore media day. During the conference, she revealed that her aim was to win against Santos and later fight the winner between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko for the title shot. She said, “Whoever the champ is, I want to take that belt off of them. I know they’re rematching soon, so I’m curious to see how that goes. No matter whether it’s Alexa or Valentina or somebody else that has it, I’m gonna come get it.“

Later, she mentioned that it was tough for her to predict the winner between Grasso and Shevhenko. According to her, Grasso is the best when it comes to game planning, and ‘Bullet’ is one of the best fighters in the UFC. So she strongly believes that anyone between Grasso and Shevchenko could win the rematch. When they locked horns at UFC 285, the Mexican fighter achieved a glorious victory against ‘Bullet’ and became the new UFC women’s flyweight champion. Now the two will fight for the second time at UFC Fight Night 227 on September 16.

It’s been a long wait
Blanchfield wanted to fight for the title soon after her bout against Andrade. but, back then, Valentina Shevchenko was the UFC women’s flyweight champion, and she was getting ready to fight against Grasso. However, she didn’t get a fight against the flyweight champion soon after her fight against Andrade. After her bout against Andrade, Blanchfield said, “I’d definitely rather fight for a title first, but I only have five fights in the UFC, so another fight wouldn’t be bad either.”

During that time, she believed that she would get a title shot against the winner between Grasso and Shevchenko in July at International Fight Week.
