There’s no rest for the wicked—or for champions, it seems. At UFC 307, Alex Pereira went to war with Khalil Rountree Jr. for the third defense of his light heavyweight crown. While ‘The War Horse’ put in a stellar display of his heart and his skills, Pereira’s experience shone through in the end. In the fourth round, Pereira battered his opponent to secure a TKO victory and the ‘Fight of the Night’ award, to go along with it!
Now, just days after his title defense, the Brazilian is back in the gym. But this time, he’s not preparing for a fight of his own. His goal? To help his sister Aline Pereira prepare for her upcoming fight at ‘Karate Combat 50’, which will also be held in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Aline began her combat sports journey as a professional kickboxer in 2017. She initially fought in WGP and was later signed with Glory and made her promotional debut in 2019. But that wasn’t all! Following in her brother’s footsteps, she joined LFA (Legacy Fighting Alliance) in 2022 and is 1-2 in the promotion.
Ahead of her MMA debut, in an interview with MMA Fighting, Aline had stated, “I’ve been following my brother’s footsteps since the beginning, I (sign with) every promotion he fights, I go after him everywhere he goes, so (the transition to MMA) happened naturally.” Karate Combat is an entirely different endeavor than MMA but with ‘Poatan’ in her corner, the fans flooded social media with their reactions to the bond between the siblings. Here’s a look at what the netizens had to say.
Alex Pereira gains massive respect from the fans for being in Aline’s corner with “no days off” after UFC 307
It’s not every day you see a UFC champion barely taking a breath before returning to the gym. But for Alex Pereira, who has redefined what it means to be an active champion, it’s no surprise that the fans dubbed him a ‘true hero’ for getting back in the gym for his sister’s fight. In fact, it took him just 11 bouts to become a two-division champion in the UFC, so why should he rest now?

“That’s what true heroes do there’s is no time to rest”
The remarkable activity by ‘Poatan’ even led to one fan dubbing him the “GOAT”. At UFC 307, the Brazilian phenom not only defended his crown for the third time but set a new record in the process! What was it? It took Alex Pereira only 175 days to make three consecutive defenses of his 205 lbs. belt. So, with “no days off”, ‘Poatan’ may cement his ‘GOAT’ status even further in the near future.
“Bro takes no days off. My GOAT”
It’s moments like these that show the heart behind the fighter. Pereira’s return to the gym, not for himself but for his sister, left fans in awe.
“So not only is he a great champion but also a great brother, too.”

Others were surprised as they indicated they were unaware that Alex Pereira had a sister. However, many fans may also be in the dark about another one of ‘Poatan’s siblings, one who tragically passed away at a young age. In a past interview, the Brazilian champion had revealed that he had a brother but, “Few people know the story, but he died at 18. I went one route, work, get my things, and he chose the wrong route. Unfortunately he ended up going down the wrong path and he’s no longer with us.”
“There are two of them???”
But fans familiar with Aline’s combat sports career were excited to see her step into the ‘Pit’ for Karate Combat. While her MMA record was less than stellar, her kickboxing pedigree may fit the striking-heavy ruleset of Karate Combat better as claimed by the fans. With a 6-2 kickboxing record and Alex in her corner, this might be the spark Aline needs to expand the Pereira family’s dominance to another organization!

“I’ve seen a few of her fights in LFA, Karate Combat is definitely the right fit for her. Really struggles with not being held against the cage but excels in open space. Looking forward to it!”
To wrap things up, as the Pereira siblings prepare to take on new challenges, one thing remains clear: the fighting spirit runs deep in the family. ‘Poatan’s willingness to support his sister Aline as she steps into Karate Combat proves just shortly after his war at UFC 307 highlights their incredible bond and his dedication towards his family.
