The potential showdown between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall has become one of MMA’s most compelling soap operas. Fans and fighters alike wonder whether the two heavyweights will ever take on each other. Despite the swirling uncertainty, UFC CEO Dana White seems unfazed. In fact, he’s confident that the two top contenders will eventually collide, suggesting that a blockbuster matchup between Jones and Aspinall is likely to take place in 2025.
On one side, Tom Aspinall remains relentless in his pursuit to become the greatest heavyweight in MMA, consistently calling out the division’s undisputed champion. On the other, Jon Jones dismisses the significance of the interim titleholder, showing little interest in stepping into the cage with the British contender. While there has been no announcement of the fight the biggest question lies in who holds the upper hand in the clash. For some, it’s young Aspinall who will end the legacy of Jones as he is hungrier than the champion. However, for many, it’s the experience of ‘Bones’ that will be the deciding factor in the potential clash.
But what does Alex Pereira think will happen in the fight? ‘Poatan’ recently sat down for a chat with Mark Bouris on his podcast and picked his favorite between the two fighters. Alex Pereira has impressed everyone including Jon Jones who is more interested in fighting him rather than Aspinall. However, according to ‘Poatan’, it’s Jones who is the greatest of all time and, while speaking to Bouris, gave the reason behind it.

He said, “In my opinion, what matters is the biggest number of title defenses in the UFC. That matters. That makes him the G.O.A.T.” Pereira is also confident that the champion will win his fight if he ever takes on Aspinall and said, “I think Jon Jones wins.”

Aspinall is, without a doubt, one of the toughest fighters Jones will face in his career. The 30-year-old Brit to date has knocked out all of his opponents which might be a concern for the New York native. This is what Michael Bisping also feels and ‘The Count’ once said, “I don’t think he [Jones] can hold a candle to Tom.” But now he has changed his opinion after seeing Jon Jones dismantle Stipe Miocic at UFC 309.

Tom Aspinall may not find it easy against Jon Jones feels Michael Bisping
At UFC 309, Jon Jones once again proved why he is considered one of the greatest fighters in MMA history. In a highly anticipated showdown against former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, Jones delivered a masterful performance that left no doubt about his dominance in the division. His performance has not only impressed the fans but also the former UFC champion Michael Bisping. Reflecting on Jones’s last performance, the UK’s first UFC champion appears to have some doubts about how his fellow countryman would fare against the consensus GOAT.
While speaking on the Submission Radio show, he shared his opinion on what could happen if the pair clashed against each other. He said, “People forget about Jones and what he did, and then, he becomes the champion and then, yeah, he beat Stipe… he looked bloody good beating him. So the point I’m making is, I said, ‘Tom beats him’, but I don’t know. The closer the fight gets, if it happens, I’m getting a little more concerned for Tom,”.
