As the Riyadh Season Noche UFC continued to send shockwaves through the MMA realm, the man with hands of stone claimed that the fight fans would soon witness him together with the heavyweight champion. Through a translator, he said, “We’re both sitting down first row, next to each other and we’ve been talking a bit about training together. But I think now it’s going to happen.”
This inspired the interviewer to ask about the timeline for the training sessions. He wondered if it would happen after UFC 307 to maximize the training for Jones’ fight against Stipe Miocic. Pereira answered, “Think so, because his fight is gonna be in November. You know, everytime we leave a fight, it takes a couple weeks or two sometimes to him to recover from his injuries. But I think I’ll have enough time to go together.”
Before the duo booked their training sessions, they wanted to fight in the Octagon. Back in May 2024, ‘Bones’ took to X and called Pereira out. He wanted the UFC to give the LHW champ a chance to avenge all of the Brazilian champions that he had defeated.

In an appearance on the MMA Hoje podcast, Pereira revealed his take on the matchup between him and Jones. Even though both of the fighters were seemingly ready to showcase their skills against each other, the MMA promotion also needed to give it a go.
The light heavyweight champ said, “Everyone certainly wanted to see this fight but there not much to say because it doesn’t just depend on us.
