At UFC 295, Alex Pereira cemented his legacy as one of the most accomplished athletes in combat sports history. He knocked out Jiri Prochazka to claim the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 295. Pereira now holds the distinction of winning 2 titles in 2 weight divisions in both GLORY and the UFC! He is also the first and only fighter to hold multiple titles in two weight classes in GLORY history!
His post-fight interview also contained an interesting message for his rival, Israel Adesanya. However, recent reports indicate that a fighter from ‘Poatan’s past has got his eyes set on a possible rematch! And fans will be looking forward to seeing if the history between the two leads to a clash between them inside the Octagon soon!

Alex Pereira joined a short list of UFC fighters who have won 2 titles in 2 weight classes in the promotion. However, none of them have accomplished the feat as quickly as Pereira. It only took the Brazilian 11 MMA fights to become a two-division champion. And only 7 of them were in the UFC where he also defeated his kickboxing rival, Israel Adesanya.
Pereira has only lost twice in his MMA journey. At UFC 287, he lost his middleweight title to Israel Adesanya via knockout. But his first loss in MMA came in his debut appearance in Jungle Fight 82 in 2015. Pereira faced Quemuel Ottoni in the bout and lost via a rear naked choke.
Ottoni has now come out and made an interesting statement on his Instagram story recently. He shared a cryptic message stating, “papai esta chegando calma” (daddy is coming)”. The comments hold significance as it references Pereira’s post-fight speech where he mentioned Adesanya. Pereira had stated, “Adesanya, come to daddy.”

Ottoni has now been linked to a possible UFC move in the near future. According to a post by Fullsend MMA on Instagram, the fighter is under new management who are eyeing a move to the UFC soon.
However, it remains to be seen if Ottoni will be challenging ‘Poatan’ for the UFC light heavyweight title any time soon. Because Pereira’s post-win callout of Israel Adesanya hasn’t sat well with a former UFC champion who has come out against his comments!
Former UFC light heavyweight champion slams ‘Poatan’
Brazilian fighter Alex Pereira’s pursuit of another fight against Israel Adesanya has triggered a strong reaction from former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz.
Pereira’s split decision victory over Blachowicz at UFC 291 secured him a title shot against Jiri Prochazka. Blachowicz recently expressed anger on social media insisting that he and Pereira have unfinished business. He stated, “Great performance and all but STFU, we have unfinished business, you and I…”
I see I need to clarify.
People see me that I'm a nice guy all the time. But sometimes I get pissed off, like everyone in life. I'm still super angry that they stole my W against Pereira.
Now he calls out Adesanya again. Give it a rest already. We’ve been there 4 times!

Blachowicz also mentioned his frustration about the disputed decision, emphasizing the need to clarify his feelings. He stated, “People see me that I’m a nice guy all the time. But sometimes I get pissed off, like everyone in life. I’m still super angry that they stole my ‘W’ against Pereira. Now he calls out Adesanya again.”
Blachowicz’s comments indicate that he isn’t happy with Adesanya possibly getting another shot at Pereira. It is also interesting to note that Blachowicz denied Adesanya’s attempt at a title in another weight class at UFC 259 in 2021. The exchange on social media adds an extra layer of tension and drama to the already intense world of mixed martial arts.
