Is Alex Pereira's reign as LHW champ already in jeopardy with Du Plessis lurking?

Middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis showed a completely new side of him in Perth, Australia. ‘Stillknocks’, who is known for his brutal knockout power, changed his game plan against Israel Adesanya. Du Plessis submitted Adesanya in the fourth round via a rear naked choke, thus defending his title. However, he has made himself a new opponent in Alex Pereira.

The Brazilian took to his Instagram account to share a message for the middleweight champion. ‘Poatan’ hinted at a return to the 185-pound division in the future. It seems he isn’t quite bothered about the call-out. During the post-fight press conference, he gave out details of his plans, which involved Alex Pereira.

During the post-fight press conference, the champion shared a clear picture about his next opponent and said, “Strickland is the next fight that people want to see that. That’s the fight people want to see is the next best guy. Then it’s the fight I want. So let me handle my business ,you handle your business. You don’t have to cut the weight for some sort of excuse later. I will come up after the Strickland fight. I will come to 205 ,we will sort it out there.”

The fight ended in one of the most unexpected ways. Adesanya is one those rare fighters who is tough to get submitted. His incredible reach allows him to keep his opponents at a safe distance. However, Du Plessis found a way to take the former champion to the ground and used his wrestling skills to cause an upset. Returning to the  Octagon after a year backfired on the former champion. However, he indeed made a promise that he would be returning back despite two back-to-back losses.

After witnessing his victory at  UFC 305, he took to his Instagram account to share a unique caption which read as, ‘Coming down to 185 one more time’. Rogan who has always been a massive fan of the Brazilian couldn’t hold back his excitement during his JRE Fight Companion episode. According to the UFC color commentator the idea of him moving down is nothing short of scary. He said, “Oh my god he is going to comedown to 185 one more time. Guess he can make 185 still which is just nuts. When he was making 185 going up to 220 the night of the fight. That’s so crazy. If he decides to make 185 again and they decide to do it in December.”
