The debate of the greatest fighter of all time has been going on ever since the UFC made its debut. While Dana White has often argued that Jon Jones is the greatest mixed martial artist, many others have stood against that notion. The light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, has also entered those discussions. And that’s what Joe Rogan and Donald Trump talked about.
Yes! The beloved UFC color commentator finally invited the former POTUS to the JRE in episode #2219. After all, that’s what the entire world wanted and Rogan had no choice but to abide, even after refusing to bring Trump on multiple occasions in the past. Given the kind of enthusiastic UFC fan Trump is, the two couldn’t stay clear of a discussion about the GOATs of MMA.

It all began when Rogan brought in Anderson Silva’s case. During his prime, the Brazilian was unstoppable. But a defeat against Chris Weidman followed by an injury broke him down, and he was never the same. But Trump knew that there still were a couple of fighters who were pretty good in the Octagon. And Rogan pushed the case for the ‘Poatan’. He said, “Oh, we’ve got so many now. Alex Pereira. There’s an argument that he’s the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”
The former President of the USA had to agree to that. “He’s looking very good, yeah,” he affirmed. The JRE host went on to take a stand for the fighters. The one thing that the fighting community had to do was look at an athlete’s prime while judging their strength. Rogan continued, “You can’t judge them when they’re hanging on and still fighting… You gotta judge them in that championship peak. In that championship peak, there’s a handful of guys that you would consider at the very top.”
And right now, it’s Alex Pereira who has been dominating the MMA cage. The Brazilian champion defeated some of the strongest fighters in the middleweight category to become an undisputed champion of the division. He defeated the likes of Israel Adesanya and then vacated his middleweight belt to compete in the LHW division. This move was nothing but a walk in the breeze for Pereira. Within a span of 4 months, the ‘Poatan’ became the light heavyweight champion by defeating Jiri Prochazka. Winning 5 bouts in about 15 months, with 4 of them coming from finishes, has what inspired the fight fans to raise him as the GOAT.

The ex-POTUS raises Khabib Nurmagomedov as the GOAT
During their conversation, Trump shot the age-old question of MMA GOAT to Rogan. The UFC commentator named Jon Jones, reasoning that he has never lost in the cage. He also named BJ Penn, ‘Spider’, Georges St-Pierre, and even Demetrious Johnson. But there was one man who had a special place in the ex-POTUS’s heart.
Trump jumped in and mentioned Nurmagomedov. He said, “Khabib is fantastic. If you look at accomplishments, in terms of championship fights, Khabib retired at 29-0, but he didn’t have as many world-championship fights.”

Of course, this wasn’t the first time Trump stood up for ‘The Eagle’. Previously during an interview with FullSend MMA, the former US President talked about the hardships that the Dagestani fighter had to go through when his father passed away. He even praised the former champ for asking Trump to stop the war during their brief meet at UFC 302. During his conversation on Logan Paul’s IMPAULSIVE podcast, Trump had a similar tone for Nurmagomedov.
