During the recent JRE episode no.2164, Joe Rogan and his guest, musician Action Bronson, shared their experiences and insights about Alex Pereira. The conversation began with Bronson mentioning a chance encounter with Pereira at the airport. He described the fighter as “a scary individual,” comparing him to the iconic ‘Street Fighter’ character, Sagat, who is also described as the ‘Emperor of Muay Thai’ in the video games.

Rogan agreed, noting Pereira’s unique physical and mental attributes, and stated, “He’s looking good, he’s the champ, two division champ. Bro, two division champ in just a handful of fights in the UFC”. This led to Bronson exclaiming that Pereira is, “Instant Hall of Famer in my mind…”

The podcast host agreed with this sentiment but added his own analysis as to what makes Pereira so unique in the world of MMA. Rogan stated, “And you know, he’s just different than everybody else in that he’s such a specialist, he’s such a specialist. He’s not taking nobody down, like you never have to worry about him trying to take you down, he’s not even interested. He’s such a specialist, but that specialist is one of the best specialists ever at that game…”

Rogan is correct here as Pereira’s elite striking skills have made him a unique puzzle for his opponents to solve inside the cage. His 5 finishes in 8 UFC fights are a testament to the dangers he possesses as every round in the UFC starts on the feet, ensuring that his opponents have to engage him in his domain, where he is exceptionally lethal.
