A new rivalry is awaiting in the UFC! Alex Pereira, the former middleweight champion, lost his edge to Israel Adesanya in a stunning turn of events at UFC 287. ‘The Last Stylebender’ halted the Brazilian’s lead in the seven-year-long rivalry with his first win against him via a second-round knockout in the Miami-Dade arena. The MMA community felt a rush of emotions upon seeing ‘Poatan’ in tears over his loss, as he had been dominant in the sport for a long time.

With this turn of events, the trilogy became inevitable, but the former middleweight champion had different plans. Recently, Pereira made a major announcement about his next fight being at 205 lbs, at light heavyweight. Upon this announcement, the divisional king, Jamahal Hill, put out a video of himself welcoming the Brazilian to the division.

Hill wrote, “Welcome can’t wait to see you @alexpoatanpereira.”

Owing to this, Pereira responded to the reigning UFC light heavyweight champion via his Instagram story and wrote, “I am coming and will kick your door in.” And now, the 35-year-old has put out yet another message for ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill and the entire division.

After Jamahal Hill, Alex Pereira now questions the entire LHW division

After announcing his decision to fight at 205 lbs and responding to Jamahal Hill‘s video message, Alex Pereira took it a notch further by putting out a question for the entire light heavyweight division.

Pereira took to his Twitter and wrote, “Where are now the LHW, who were talking about me, when I was in middleweight ?” It seems like Pereira is not backing down from any challenge and is ready to take on anyone who previously called him out.

Moreover, moving up in the division was foreseen beforehand, and the matchup between Pereira and Jamahal Hill was long expected by the fans when the latter defeated Glover Teixeira. Teixeira happens to be in Pereira’s coaching team and the latter was not happy when Hill defeated Teixeira. Thus, it was inevitable that these two titans would eventually face each other in the octagon, and with Pereira’s move to the light heavyweight division, we may finally get to witness this epic battle with the Brazilian avenging his mentor’s loss.
