UFC 303 witnessed Alex Pereira deliver yet another dominating performance in the light heavyweight division. The Brazilian took on Jiri Prochazka for the second time in his career after beating him previously at UFC 295. ‘Poatan’ landed a brutal head kick in the second round, which knocked out ‘Denisa.’ With this win, Pereira has once again proved why he is the best in the division.
However, it seems the brutal KO loss has affected Prochazka and his journey in the division. The 31-year-old is now considering a move to the middleweight and is looking for a fresh start. His coach revealed the details about his possible move.

Jiri Prochazka entered the Octagon high on confidence after his emphatic victory at UFC 300. ‘Denisa’ took on the fight with Alex Pereira on short notice. Despite facing the Brazilian previously at UFC 295, the former champion failed to keep his winning run from UFC 300 going. A tactical mistake by ‘Denisa’ and his team helped ‘Poatan’ change his game plan, which helped Pereira take home the win. It now seems that the former champion is looking to make a change in his division as a means for a fresh start. “We’re certainly not done, we’re continuing. If I can speak for myself, I see it now as a restart and a positive step toward something happening,” his coach Martin Karaivanov revealed in a conversation with tncz.

Prochazka has never switched his weight class since the time he made his debut in the UFC in 2020. However, his coach Martin Karaivanov feels he can make a move to the new division. He stated, “He is still old enough to fit relatively well into middleweight. So of course we will talk about it. It will not just be my decision, but the team’s decision. Middleweight would give meaning as a new restart.” Prochazka is known for his outstanding, striking ability and his power. However, his head-to-head battle with Alex Pereira has not ended well. Making a move to the middleweight division might just help his career in the long run.
While Prochazka is eyeing a move below, fans want Pereira to make a move to the heavyweight division. However, it seems that the current champion is keeping his options open but wants to prepare well before his move.
