When the word was out that Alex Pereira was cornering Sean Strickland last weekend, the middleweight title contender would go on to claim that ‘Poatan’ could not stand Dricus du Plessis. And guess what? The South African had no issues with taking on the light heavyweight champion, which was apparent during the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan when he quipped, “Is there no one else?” While saying those words, ‘Stillknocks’ was looking directly at Pereira.

But can the South African export do what he believes he can do? Alex Pereira may have suffered a loss at middleweight, but when it comes to 205lbs, the man is invincible. Despite Pereira’s track record, former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo has taken the side of the South African star on this one, citing his ground game as a key factor.

Moreover, wrestling is not the only advantage ‘Stillknocks’ has because ‘Triple C’ believes the overall unusual style of Du Plessis, which has often been a topic of laughter among UFC fans, could prove detrimental to Pereira. And if you’re wondering what made Cejudo make that statement, well, his dominant win over Sean Strickland proved that point.

“I’ll definitely put my money on DDP. I think DDP, stylistically, is a problem, dude, and I know DDP is gonna go in there and f—ing wrestle,” Henry Cejudo told Kamaru Usman on the Pound 4 Pound podcast. “I think, with the grappling, that can be very problematic.” But, as we all know, Alex Pereira needs just a solitary moment to knock his opponents into oblivion and that’s something Cejudo claims Du Plessis needs to watch out for since he’s not very technical at what he does inside the Octagon.

“But, there’s one thing that I will say is he will need to be careful because Alex Pereira does a really good job of countering and there’s a lot of little sloppy things that DDP does,” Cejudo added.

Although Dricus Du Plessis seems poised to fight Alex Pereira in the future, he believes that another excellent middleweight fight is up on the horizon, and if you’re wondering who that is, well, it’s the undefeated star, Khamzat Chimaev. Let’s see what the 185-pound champ had to say about that potential clash.

Dricus Du Plessis wants Khamzat Chimaev before jumping to 205lbs

After shutting up his critics in a pretty dominant fashion when he outclassed Sean Strickland in their rematch, Dricus Du Plessis turned his attention to Khamzat Chimaev and put him on blast in the process. While claiming that he’s looking to get back inside the Octagon in June, ‘Stillknocks’ addressed ‘Borz’s dig at him on X, claiming that it’s not him behind these posts, but his manager, especially because of his limited English vocabulary.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Dricus Du Plessis really outwrestle Alex Pereira, or is he biting off more than he can chew?

Have an interesting take?

Chimaev didn’t seem too impressed with the UFC 312 main event, deeming it the “biggest bullsh-t.” But the South African clapped back by pointing out his long lay-offs and inability to win any titles in the UFC even after so many years of competing under the promotion’s banner.

“I hope we can make it International Fight Week, a big one. I think he tweeted something, he actually did tweet it, because when his tweets make sense it’s his agent, and when it’s just random English words, it’s him,” Dricus du Plessis told Full Send MMA. “He said this fight. Well, try to get to a fight. Couldn’t get the welterweight title, definitely not getting the middleweight title. Talk about a waste of potential.”

Well, there’s certainly a lot of options for Dricus du Plessis in the future. While he’s still reigning supreme in the middleweight division, do you think he has to ability to beat Alex Pereira like Henry Cejudo believes he can? Let us know in the comments down below.
