Alex Pereira suffered his fight defeat against Israel Adesanya at the UFC 287 headliner. ‘The Last Stylebender’ finally overcame ‘Poatan’ after losing three fights against him in his entire combat sports career. However, Pereira revealed in a recent interview that he had suffered an injury coming into the rematch last weekend.
Adesanya reclaimed the middleweight title after registering an impressive 2nd-round knockout. He showcased an amazing flurry as he landed a 4-punch combination that turned Alex Pereira’s light out. But the former recently posted a video on YouTube, explaining that he suffered an injury to his finger weeks before the fight.

‘Poatan’ has no excuses for his loss at UFC 287. He claims to have trained well for the fight, even though he lost. But he also mentioned an injury he suffered on his finger. Pereira said, “What I said is that I trained well like I said that in the last fight.” He added, “I had an injury on my finger weeks before the fight.”
Pereira stated that he knew his injury could prove to be a problem, so he was prepared for that. He said, “That [his injury] messed me up a lot, so I would have been prepared if Adesanya would have grappled or [had] any other surprise for me. So 100 percent in training, I was very confident for this fight.”

Alex Pereira also responded to people who were claiming Israel Adesanya was the better fighter among the two. He said, “He [Adesanya] proved he was better than me that night.” He added, “He would he be [the best] if I also didn’t fight him anymore after I won the title. I would be the best?”

Pereira claims that Adesanya could only prove he was better that night because he decided to defend the title after winning it from him. He also addressed the online chatter about their old kickboxing bouts. Many people were of the opinion that even if Alex Pereira won the fight, Adesanya was on the front foot. ‘Poatan’ said, “Everyone said, ‘But Adesanya is winning’. I could use that, but this is a fight. You are winning but you can lose too. You can get knocked out.”
He claims that anything can happen in a fight.
