Alex Pereira might’ve finally booked his next fight after having a meeting with Dana White. That is not just us saying that; in fact, ‘Poatan’ himself has dropped this major update on social media. LFA CEO and friend Edward Soares, both uploaded a video of himself with the Brazilian fighter on his Instagram story. On it, Pereira claimed that he was headed home from Las Vegas after meeting with Dana White, which made him very happy. This video was then also shared by Pereira on his Instagram story.

The reigning UFC Light Heavyweight Champion said, “Look at the smile on this guy’s face. Chama or no Chama? We’re in Las Vegas, heading home now. We were very happy with the meeting. I’m so happy, man.” He wanted to reveal more details; however, after asking his friend about it, he decided against the decision. “This meeting… Should I tell them or no? We’ll wait a little longer.” So, by the looks of it, it seems like finally, Pereira has gotten himself a fight that he surely loves. But the question remains: who might it be?

Although, very recently, Alex Pereira gave us another major update on it. It is unknown when Alex Pereira will return to the octagon in 2025, but he assured his fans that it wouldn’t be against Magomed Ankalaev. Mockingly, the reigning light heavyweight champion ruled out the Dagestani as his next challenger to the throne. “It won’t be Ankalaev!” wrote ‘Poatan’ with a crying emoticon included in a post by X.

Ankalaev would have earned a title opportunity after beating Aleksandar Rakić by unanimous decision on the UFC 308 Main Card. The Russian is on an unbeaten streak of 11–0–1 in his last thirteen fights. Pereira, on the other hand, is coming off his second belt defense with a fourth-round TKO over Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307. But while Alex Pereira is sure that he isn’t going to face Ankalaev in the Octagon, the unbeated fighter believes otherwise.

Magomed Ankalaev confident about the future clash

Unbeaten in his last thirteen fights (eleven wins, one draw, and one No-Contest), Magomed Ankalaev is confident that he can secure a title date with Alex Pereira. Eager to get his hands on ‘Poatan’, the Dagestani foresees the fight will be scheduled for May. “Pereira has not yet accepted the fight, but it will eventually happen,” he shared in a recent interview (via MMA Mania). “I think the fight could take place in May,” he added.

What’s your perspective on:

Who do you think Alex Pereira's next opponent will be if it's not Magomed Ankalaev?

Have an interesting take?

Pereira, who in the last year and a half has emerged as one of the most popular figures in the entire UFC, has already warned that he will take a break from MMA after fighting three times between April and October of this calendar. But with the latest meeting with Dana White, it seems like ‘Poatan’ wouldn’t be going on a long break after all. Although if the next fight isn’t with Ankalaev, the other opponent that comes to mind is the #3 ranked light heavyweight, Jamahal Hill.

The two fighters have been involved in a verbal back-and-forth for a while. However, things almost took a nasty turn when the duo almost exchanged blows in the UFC gym. So, seeing the bad blood between the two fighters, it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the future fight could be between Pereira and Hill. This would finally allow ‘Poatan’ to get his hands on the light heavyweight in an official fight. What do you think? What could be the meeting about? Let us know in the comments.
