The strong bonding between the former UFC Light Heavyweight king Glover Teixeira, and his former UFC Middleweight champ disciple Alex Pereira, was put on full display at UFC 281. A lot might say that Teixeira was more enthralled than Pereira himself after the latter’s coveted victory over his archrival, Israel Adesanya. But, with ‘the Brazilian’s’ movement to the Light Heavyweight division, currently, a number of fans might be doubtful about his performance in his next bout against Jan Blachowicz.
But ‘Pereira’s mentor’ chose to differ from all others regarding this. Recently, Teixeira appeared at a post-UFC Fight Pass Invitational event press conference where he revealed his confidence in his disciple. Although ‘Poatan’ had made his move to an entirely new weight division, his mentor predicted a victory for him in his initial Light Heavyweight bout only.

A reporter at the post-UFC Fight Pass Invitational event press conference sparked this topic initially. He sought Texeira’s opinion on Pereira’s initial Light Heavyweight bout against Blachowicz, questioning “Speaking of Alex, what do you think of his fight against Jan Blachowicz?”.
Amid expressing his opinion, Teixeira also revealed after retiring from the UFC, the current Light Heavyweights had become his friends. So it would be rather hard for him to watch his disciple fight one of his friends. He said, “I have a hard time, like Anthony Smith, Jan Blachowicz, those guys become my friend, you know.”
But, Texeira gave out his opinion after realizing that it was their “job” and they had to do it. He said, “I think it’s a great matchup for Alex, you know”.
With further contempt, Teixeira also predicted a KO victory for his disciple in his next bout against Blachowicz. He mentioned, “I hate to see Alex really go out there and knock him out, you know, because Alex is knockout artist”.
Looking at Pereira’s reputation in his entire combat sports career, a healthy amount of fans will probably agree with Texeira’s final words.
Glover Teixeira also warned UFC Light Heavyweights about an Alex Pereira takeover
Teixeira was super confident about his disciple showing some remarkable performances in the UFC’s Light Heavyweight division as well. Continuing his answer, the ’43-year-old Brazilian’ even stated, “I think Alex gonna take over the whole division”. Some fans might be startled to see the amount of trust Teixeira had on his adherent.
