Aleksandar Rakic has amassed a healthy following within the mixed martial arts community for becoming the first and the only Austrian fighter to have entered the top 10 UFC rankings, possessing an impeccable fighting prowess. Nevertheless, he came across a few challenges in his last two clashes, getting defeated by a couple of ex-champions through knockouts.

Nevertheless, the Austrian is back for some action in the Middle East as he faces surging light heavyweight contender Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 308. Aleksandar Rakic is famously known as ‘Rocket’ in the light heavyweight division. He is undoubtedly one of the most amusing fighters competing in the division as he can mercilessly knockout his opponents. He is 1.93 m tall and weighs about 205 lbs. Despite having such a big frame, his speed across the octagon is devastatingly quick. This is why the 32-year-old is called ‘Rocket’.

His performance against Jimmy Manuwa saw the title bestowed upon him by the fans. And who could blame them? Rakic had knocked him out in the first round within forty-seven seconds. In one of his interviews, he said,I got the name after the Jimmy Manuwa knockout. They were so explosive and I know that I’m one of the most explosive guys in the division, and the most fastest guy. With the kicks I throw. Rocket and Rakic it’s kind of like similar that’s the reason they call me Rocket. I kind of like it.”

Unfortunately, the Austrian mixed martial artist’s last two fights against Jiri Prochazka and Jan Blachowicz resulted in defeats. The fight with Prochazka ended with a gruesome injury to the leg. This put him out of action for about two years before he returned to fight Blachowicz at UFC 300. Now, the ‘Rocket’ is all set to land against Magomed Ankalaev, who’s been on a roll, marching towards a title shot against Alex Pereira.

On the other hand, the Austrian would seek to overturn his losing spree this weekend. On top of that, defeating Ankalaev would certainly give Rakic an edge, as he may get the chance to fight for the LHW championship fight.
