Did Ailin Perez go too far in humiliating Michael Bisping, or was it justified?

Yesterday, just a day before UFC’s Fight Night in Paris, during the weigh-ins, UFC star Ailin Perez unfortunately missed her weight, raising questions about this formidable fighter’s preparation for her scheduled bout. She was slated against Russian sensation Dariya Zheleznyakova. The weigh-in unexpectedly attracted scrutiny from fighter-turned-analyst Michael Bisping, who suggested a conspiracy behind Perez’s missed weight, claiming she was faking it.

However, the weight debacle didn’t stop Ailin Perez from using an arm-triangle choke on Zheleznyakova in a thrilling match, extending her winning streak from three to four. As soon as the fight concluded, while addressing the media in the post-fight conference, Ailin Perez was asked about Michael Bisping’s claims, and she boldly debunked his assertions, stating, “Who? Who is Michael Bisping? I was very chill.”

Although Michael Bisping is known for his critical and scrutinizing persona, he has yet to respond to the Bantamweight’s sass. Further, Bisping’s persona came to light last month after the conclusion of UFC’s Perth event, which gained attention not for the Dricus du Plessis-Israel Adesanya “True African War,” but for its controversial judges’ scorecards. In a match where Tai Tuivasa was beaten by his opponent, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Judge Howie Booth controversially gave Tuivasa the upper hand with a scorecard of 30-27.

In response to this controversial matter, Michael Bisping spoke out angrily, claiming, “These judges who come out with insane scorecards like that need to be fired. They should not be doing this job.” Yet, this bitter remark from Bisping about the judges is nothing compared to what he recently directed at Conor McGregor.

Michael Bisping scrutinized Conor McGregor’s behavior

Since UFC CEO Dana White announced that Conor McGregor’s return to the octagon might not happen this year, McGregor seems to have slipped back into his old ways of partying and pursuing side quests. Recently, McGregor was among the attendees at the highly anticipated boxing match between former unified heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. Surprisingly, more attention was on McGregor than the fighters themselves, as his larger-than-life persona captured everyone’s eyes while he roamed the arena with an unlit cigar in his mouth.

This behavior sparked criticism from many veterans, most notably Michael Bisping, who, like many others, is eagerly waiting for McGregor’s return to the octagon. Frustrated by McGregor’s “side quests,” Bisping slammed him, saying, “Walking in with a big cigar unlit between the teeth, how do we feel about that? Because two words spring to mind right now, douchebag. This is the problem when nobody tells you anything, when nobody says, ‘Bro, you look like a c*ck.’ At least light the cigar, at least have a go.”
