A fighter of the highest ranking, former UFC Lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has tussled with the greats in his division. He believes in walking the walk and he does it well. In a recent interview with The MMA Hour, Poirier speaks plainly about the highly anticipated fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler.

McGregor took a year-long sabbatical from the UFC. However, being one of the most popular UFC fighters of all time, it was only a matter of time before he waltzed right back into the Octagon. Talking with Dustin Poirier, Helwani asked him a few questions that everyone has been wanting the answers to. “By the way do you think Conor beats Chandler? You know them both very well now,” he asked.

To this Poirier replied, “I’ve got that question a bunch from everyone and I think that if Conor comes back anything like he was – with his timing and rhythm – you know with the injury that he had and this long of a layoff and if – we’re not getting any younger either, you know. If he comes back similar to who he was before he left, I think he stops Michael Chandler.

The UFC lightweight further said, “If Conor is who he was before the injury, and stuff I think.. Two rounds. The fight’s over in two rounds.” Talking about Conor McGregor returning to UFC and reinstating his point, Poirier said, If anybody can, I think it would be him.”
