Conor McGregor returned to the UK to attend his paternal aunt’s funeral, weeks after she sadly passed away. He even got involved in yet another controversy at a pub in Birkenhead. However, his most recent update might be a relief to his fans. The 35-year-old shared a post on social media about him returning to the State Blast Gym to train with John Kavanagh.
SBG Ireland has been a staple for Irish MMA since Conor McGregor’s iconic two-title-winning UFC run. Through all the highs and lows of his career, ‘The Notorious’ has stuck by his gym and his coach. Now, amid all the controversies and rumors of his upcoming fight against Michael Chandler, McGregor is back home at SBG. Funnily enough, his longtime coach had a tongue-in-cheek response to welcome his star pupil back.

‘The Notorious’ will likely be competing for the first time in over two years against Michael Chandler in the near future. Although it is not clear when that fight will take place, he has started to prepare for his bout and returned to training back home in Ireland. Moreover, the Irishman shared a few snaps from his training at the SBG in a recent Instagram post. McGregor wrote in the caption, “Honey, I’m home!”

His long-time coach, John Kavanagh, was delighted to see his most successful student back in his gym and commented on his post. He wrote, “Prodigal son.”
McGregor had been training in the States, most recently with Dillon Danis. However, he decided to go back home and reunite with his coach after some time away from his native country. Meanwhile, McGregor’s 2023 return seems to be in jeopardy. His manager recently revealed what the future looks like for the former UFC double champion.
Audie Attar gives an update on McGregor’s return
McGregor’s manager recently appeared in an interview and addressed his USADA situation and plans for the future. Audie Attar mentioned how Conor McGregor was one of the most tested fighters and everybody seems to forget that.
Furthermore, Attar revealed that McGregor’s team and the UFC are discussing the USADA situation. They are also ready and willing to do things according to the books. He did not rule out ‘The Notorious’ returning in 2023. However, the Paradigm Sports head added that a comeback in 2024 is a strong possibility.

We are already in July and there’s not much time for Conor McGregor and the UFC to figure out if he can fight this year. Further, the promotion has already announced its plans for PPVs from August through November.

If fans are lucky, McGregor vs. Chandler will happen in December, as previously stated. Or else, ‘Mystic Mac’ will only make his return in the first quarter of 2024.
