‘Poatan’ is finally making his UFC debut at light heavyweight, and fans are hyped up to see him fight in his natural weight category. Shortly after his KO loss to Israel Adesanya, Alex Pereira announced that he will be moving to the 205lbs division. A few weeks later, UFC announced Pereira’s next battle, against Jan Błachowicz.
Recently, a video of Pereira’s unusual training regime popped up on social media. In the video, the former UFC middleweight champion can be seen training with his partner in the middle of a forest. Amidst the flowing water stream and beautiful trees, Pereira practiced striking with his training partner.

As always, fans had some polarising reactions after seeing the video. Many of them pointed out the apparent lack of head movement by Pereira. Moreover, some even predicted how his UFC 290 fight against Blachowicz will go.

Here are some of the fan reactions –
- “Y y’all sayin bad head movement like he won’t send everyone in this comment section to the shadow realm”
- “I think he’s going to do well at 205.”
- “His hands are always low and he relies on his power which won’t carry at 205. His chin couldn’t stand at 185 so definitely not what last at 205. Too much hype but I do like him”
- “Bro does not move his head at all”
- “Hope he loses again so people will stop glazing him so hard”
- “This seems silly. I feel like a gym is fine”
- “Alex just watch out for Jan’s leg kicks , he has one of the most deadliest leg kicks in the UFC”
- “He looks like a tekken character”
- “He guy is a double Glory champion and UFC champion without having any talent!”
- “Jan by knockout”
Will this unique kind of training help ‘Poatan’? Because come July 29, he might be fighting for more than what was initially slated for.

Recently, some fans have been seeing Facebook ads of UFC 291, where the promotion is supposedly advertising two title fights – Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje (for the BMF title) & Jan Blachowicz vs Alex Pereira!

However, Mike Bohn, a senior reporter at MMAJunkie recently clarified this situation, calling this ad a mistake. “UFC official tells me this is a typo and Blachowicz vs. Pereira currently remains a three-round, non-title fight.” Given the current scenario, it would not escape reasoning to make this fight for the title or even an interim belt
