“I got my family back!” This is one of the quotes that have been associated with Brian Ortega as he rose back from the deepest troughs of life. He was previously in a pretty public relationship with the UFC women’s flyweight fighter, Tracy Cortez. However, things didn’t work out well between the two and they split. Needless to say, Ortega stumbled down and hit rock bottom after that. But now, he has bounced back as a reinvigorated man, and all the credit goes to his ex-girlfriend. And no! It’s not Cortez.

Ortega is now married to Stephanie Roberts who he has fathered two boys with. Now, ‘T-City’ seldom fails to address how grateful he is to have Roberts back in his life. And that’s exactly what many would call the greatest victory ever.

In a conversation with the famed columnist, Kevin Iole, the featherweight mixed martial artist weighed in on the troubles he had to face following his breakup with Cortez. It wasn’t just his emotional health that dipped down, but also his physical health and career. However, things began to change when Roberts decided to give Ortega one more chance. And he wasn’t one to give them away again.

Talking to Iole, ‘T-City’ revealed, “I was in where, you know, your self-confidence and life is not going right. And then the career, you look at your body, you know, it seemed like nothing was going right. The only thing that finally went right for me was, you know, rekindling the relationship with my wife now, and having my family back. That was the biggest victory that I had. And it’s the only one I needed, actually. But that’s kinda what gave me that will, right, to want to fight.”

The previous failed relationships provided Ortega with enough insights to value what he has now and work hard to make it last. Getting his family back was the only reason why his life went back to normal. And that makes him shower all the love he has on his family.

What happened between ‘T-City, Paulo Costa, and Tracy Cortez?

Ortega and Cortez kickstarted their relationship through social media. Their romance materialized with the featherweight fighter commenting on one of Cortez’s Instagram posts. But in 2023, rumors of Cortez and Paulo Costa began to rise on the internet, after the Brazilian made a cryptic social media post

Ortega and Cortez were no longer together by the time Costa sent forth the post. But ‘T-City’ couldn’t help himself from taking a jibe at his former fiancee. He took to X and wrote, “Everyone out here talking bout I fumbled. Y’all must not know the rules of the game. When you drop the ball on accident that’s a fumble, but when you throw it away on purpose. That’s called a complete pass. Top G s**t!”

But Cortez maintained her dignity and claimed that she hadn’t done anything to publicly shame her ex-fiance, and warned him of “throwing shade” at her. Soon, the heat between the former couple became the talk of the town as the duo began a verbal war on social media. Thankfully with time, all things healed and Ortega was able to get his life back together.
