The MMA community was rocked by a devastating loss a few months ago. Victoria Sun-hei Lee, a young and talented MMA fighter, tragically passed away on December 26, 2022, at the young age of 18. Victoria, who competed in ONE Championship, was the younger sister of two famous MMA fighters, Angela Lee and Christian Lee. Both of her elder siblings hold World Championship titles in their respective weight classes.

The news of Victoria‘s passing remained undisclosed until Angela Lee shared the heartbreaking announcement on her Instagram account in January. Her family has not revealed her death’s cause, leaving many in shock and mourning the loss.

Moreover, there was no update from Angela and Christian Lee about their return, until now. Recently, during a live Q&A session on Facebook, ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong gave a huge update about this.

ONE Championship CEO talks about the Lee siblings’ return

Sityodtong did not reveal what the fans might have expected to hear. According to the CEO, Angela Lee is unlikely to make a return to the octagon. The pain and grief she experienced may understandably impact her ability to compete at the moment.

“Angela Lee is likely not coming back due to the loss of her sister”, Sityodtong said, according to Beyond Kick. However, the silver lining in the cloud here is that Christian Lee might make a comeback soon, as per Sityodtong. “Christian Lee told me that he wants to come back”, ONE Championship’s CEO revealed.

The sudden demise of the youngest Lee sibling left the entire family in grave shock. So much so, that they might have decided to permanently move away from MMA. Shortly after Lee’s passing, reports about United MMA Hawaii being closed down arose.

In 2021, Angela Lee and her husband Bruno Pucci opened this gym in Hawaii. Now, the Instagram page of the gym has been deactivated, and it has been closed down.

This loss was one of the saddest in the entire combat sports community. At the young age of 18, Victoria Lee had a professional record of 3-0 and had the potential of replicating the success of her siblings. However, this tragedy cut her promising career short.
